Are Boosted Facebook Posts Really That Bad?

By
Real Estate Agent with Northwest Veterans Realty

Throughout this article we will discuss how the boost post function can be extremely useful even though it has a bad rap in themarketing world. Read below and decide for yourself or even better test and get your own results.

Facebook Marketing

Marketing on facebook is one of the most valuable resources any business can through their eggs into. When I first started my business I jumped right into ads on facebook. Everything I read online told me to not boost posts inside of your facebook page but to instead only use the facebook ad manager. I have found this to not be the most useful way to market on facebook.

Facebook boosted pages

What Boosting Your Post Does?

  • Shows your post to the people most likely to engage
  • Still allows you to target a specific audience
  • Makes it quicker to start advertising

Why Is This Bad?

This isn't ideal for most marketing because facebook isn't showing it to the people most likely to want to buy your product. Instead it shows it to people who like, comment and share on a lot of posts. So while I agree that your real estate specific content should never be boosted, this doesn't mean you shouldn't every use it.

Facebook Marketing

Why Is This Good?

As a local real estate company in washington, we pride ourself on being apart of the community and sharing what it has to offer with everyone around. For this reason we often have non real estate specific postings. When we feel we have something cool and unique like artistic renderings of our local community we do boost the post to a targeted audience around the city. An Example of this is when we boosted a post related to the Mount Vernon Fire Department. We made an artistic rendering of the MV Fire Truck and posted it on our page. We boosted it on our page and got a lot of engagement including over 70+ like and 7 shares and almost a 1,000 people reached for just a few bucks. Over time this adds up and everyone in the community knows who you are.

The reason we incorporate this into our strategy is because of the potential for the post to go viral and increase our brand awareness. It reaches an audience in our community and shows them that we are more than just a real estate company, we are apart of the community. In these posts we link not to a real estate article in general but to a specific real estate page about the city. An example is our Mount Vernon or Big Lake pages.

This is how we boost our pages on facebook. Try them out and see if it gives you any results. Comment below on the positives or negatives you have experienced will marketing online.
