Cynthia- It is amazing how so many do not really understand the significance of this Holiday....it isn't about sales at the mall, or an extra day off......but then again we don't teach Patriotism like we used to.  Since you work with the Miulitary you understand the importance of the meaning.....thanks.

Memorial Day is such a great holiday. The military deserve our thanks year round.

Cynthia:  Indeed...more than just a 3 day holiday weekend! Thanks for a great post. My father was ine military and I'll be remembering him plus the many others currently in harms way.

My thoughts and prayers will be with all of the families who over the years have lost a loved one on military duty. Thanks for sharing the history.

My thoughts and prayers will especially be with Lance Cpl Matthew A. Snyder 's family. This young man was the first causality from my husband's unit on their second tour to Iraq. Lance Cpl Snyder touched my life in his death.

Cynthia ~ Memorial Day is about remembering and giving thanks for all the freedoms we enjoy. So many Americans take the freedoms for granted - but we must remember those individuals who, without hesitation - put themselves in harm's way for all of us.

Hi Cynthia, many remember the day but they really have no clue of the real sacrifices people have made for them.  I was in a Recon unit in Vietnam and every day I think of people that gave everything for us.  This was a very nice tribute Cynthia.  Hope you had a great Holiday.
