Selling Your Charlotte Home? How To Stage Your Home On A Budget {Infographic}

If you're selling your home or just thinking about selling your Charlotte home this spring/summer have you wondered if staging your home pays off? Are you concerned that staging might be expensive and that you can't afford it?

Staging Your Home Pays Off!

According to the National Association of Realtors® (NAR) Annual Profile of Home Staging:

  • 50% of staged homes saw a 1-10% increase in dollar value offers from buyers.
  • 77% of buyer’s agents said staging made it easier for buyers to visualize the home as their own.
  • 40% of buyers were more willing tovisit a home they found on-line if it was staged

And that's without taking into account that staged homes typically sell more quickly saving you carrying costs. According to the Real Estate Staging Association, homes staged before going on the market sell 73% faster, on average, than their non-staged counterparts.

Staging Your Home On A Budget!

Obviously, not everyone has unlimited resources for staging their home. The good news is that you can stage on a budget! Here are some great ideas from Moshells.com on how to stage your home on a budget. Notice, that Moshells says every dollar you spend in staging your home can return $2 in increased sale price. That's a pretty good return no matter how you look at it!

Check out Moshell's 5 Golden Rules to staging, which include depersonalizing your home,  decluttering and maximizing space in your home, sanitzing (CLEANING) your home, modernizing and neutralizing your home.

Lawrence "Larry" & Sheila Agranoff. Cell: 631-805-4400  ~ hi Sheila, I can think of many instances where some judicious staging on my listings is what made all the difference in getting a property sold quickly (especially after it had been on the market previously with no luck selling).

Nina, great post, and homes staged DO garner the higher dollars on offers.   Sad that some homeowners don't want to spend the extra.

Brian England ~ hi Brian... I learned the value of staging many years ago when I was the second agent in on a condo in Dilworth area... it was a bit of an odd floor plan and vacant. I staged it professionally and it sold at a premium price in about a week. The seller got way more back in sale price than what the cost of staging was for a month.

Hi Nina

Staging makes such a difference in a home, especially a vacant one! This is a terrific resource for sellers to get them start on preparing for the market andhaving the home look its best.

Jeff Dowler, CRS ~ thanks, Jeff... I'm a huge believer in staging, because like Barbara Todaro I also believe people are visual and that the "eye buys."

I'm fortunate that I can see past the clutter, but most buyers can't. It's important to stage the home before putting it on the market.

I missed this when published so glad I saw it on Roy's reblog.  Great article and visuals on the importance of staging.  It's hard to deny staging is effective.

Unfortunately, Nina, we didn't have any stagers in town when I was working.  Not even sure there are any now but several agents have taken some classes.

Carol Williams ~ hi Carol... I've found that there are interior designers who provide staging services, as well. And let's face it, list enough homes over time, you know how to help your client stage. I use a stager but before I call her in, I've already covered off 90% of what she would suggest. She adds the icing on the cake for me.
