Albert Pujols had a rough night last night.  He played well, but two of the San Diego Padres were hurt.

Pujols hit a line drive and hit the pitcher Chris Young in the face.  Young suffered a broken and lacerated nose.  When Pujols stopped at first base, he went to check on Young and prayed with him.

Later, in the same inning, Pujols slid into home plate and into Josh Bard's foot.  Bard was removed from the game because of a sprained ankle.

These two unfortunate events really bothered Pujols.  He couldn't concentrate.  So, in the eighth inning, Tony La Russa (Cardinals' Manager) removed him from the game.

The Cardinals won the game, but the victory was a little clouded.

I'm praying that Young and Bard will recover quickly.

6 Comments on Dangerous night at the ballpark!

I watched snippets of that this morning on ESPN.  That was scary what happened to the pitcher!  I hope he won't be out for long.

injuring anyone is not fun,  I had a similar event when I played ball in highschool breaking one's ankle and anothers nose.  I felt bad for both of them and it was never my intention to hurt anyone.

oh, I hve broken 5 bones in my life - none of them mine

Debi... Not your average night of baseball.  Hope Young and Bard have a quick recovery.

Debi, wow, a ballplayer who actually cares about the competitors as well as the game. Good post. :)

Kris - I hope not, too!

Adam - I don't know, but they didn't see this...!

Dave - Ouch! You sound dangerous to be around!  Just kidding...  :)

Valerie -  I hope so, too!

Steve - Yes, I think Albert Pujols is a good guy.  :)
