ActiveRain

ActiveRain

All around me memories

Of people who failed to bloom

Or bloomed too soon

then quit

Rainers contemplate

The winds of change

Sucked into a cloud of hope

Active nope

nothing changes

--- Patricia Feager

Until now a blog has been a lifestyle, a unique personality, creative style; others, including myself have shared the current and interesting industry news, local expertise, including personal life stories, hope, thoughts, and dreams. Carefully or carelessly, words are chosen in content, photos, and comments. Does anyone care? Do members matter at all? Is ActiveRain simply about the Real Estate business? Can the process of blogging become obsolete and outdated? Is Social Media dead and dying? Or should it thrive?

When I think of rain I think it cultivates growth and something good builds over time. There is wisdom in other people's words and inspiration too. Just as the rain beats down relentlessly, some people never give up; while others quit. And so I wonder, is there power in an authentic leader that breaks the groundwork for better ways to conduct business? ActiveRain, I want to know, is Social Media alive and thriving or is it time for change?

It's the raindrops on petals I share from my garden that crystallizes the vision of growing. My belief system is this: By cultivating the best that everyone has to offer, ActiveRain will survive. Together, we sow the seeds for all to grow. Without active growth, nothing thrives.

Many active rainmembers are here to network with other agents and to write about real estate. When it gets to busy they do not find time to blog.

Hello Patricia. In many ways, I see the comparison of ActiveRain and to life(certainly real estate). It's more than just the Pareto factor(but that is likelyva reason).  Hmm...more to ponder. Always more...

Patricia, hmmmmm....this dialogue could go so many directions. I love your photo and how it inspired your thoughts and ponderings. This year is very different personally. Time is so precious and it's taken a different direction in how it's spent for me. Doing inner work has taken priority. Then there are all of my critters that I take care of every morning and that takes up a lot of the time that I would sit in front of the computer and digest different bloggers' thoughts.

Building relationships will NEVER wane for me, they are simply evolving. And I think that on some level I understand your "derailment"....hoping for a very Happy Friday for you!

Patricia the Rain has changed and so has its Active membership.  Not sure if that is a positive on negative.

Patricia Feager ~ hi Patricia... no doubt there are many who come to the Rain and quickly disappear. The ones who've been here for a while and disappear do so for other reasons... I'll admit to days when I'm ready to chuck it all as well when nothing here seems to be working properly and it feels like a waste of time to keep frustrating myself.

Hi Patricia! Well, I do know that I hope those who are active continue to sow seeds in the Rain. We say we don't need leadership at our level but, I do feel that we do here - we're going 'willy nilly' and without leadership and encouragement, it's difficult to attract newbies to the site.

I would love to see the membership grow and bloom...just like your gorgeous photo!

Hello Patricia, I wanted to thank you for checking on me...YES, I'm still around and very busy...in no small part due to ActiveRain. I've been trying to get back to regular posting and staying in touch with members, but for me there simply haven't been enough hours in the day. However, I am thinking positively and hope to be back regularly.

Good afternoon Patricia Feager,

Your writing always causes us to pause and think! I do see so many rainers come, go and return and some don't. Life has a way of getting in the way at times and many of us find ourselves with time constraints on our ability to blog. I learn so much here from so many and it has definitely made a difference in my business. My business is over the top right now and I'll have to make a decision if I can still maintain balance in my life. If I can't I'll have to cut back or refer more out.

Dorie Dillard - I'm so happy whenever you find time in your busy schedule to comment on my blog. I feel a connection to you and whether or not it has anything to do with business, moral values, or living in the State of Texas, I don't know. But I feel you are trustworthy and the value you bring to ActiveRain is what causes me to continue to communicate with you on this platform.

I do believe continuous blogging, discovering ways that others in the Industry conducts business, and learning new ideas helps us to grow. Education is an investment. With any investment, it takes time. Whether or not you can give credit to AR for your success or not is immaterial. The fact is, you have gained the trust and confidence in others who would be honored to do business with you or anyone else on your team.

Finding balance is just as important as education. Good health gives us strength to make better decisions.

All the best to you today and always.

Patricia

Nick T Pappas - You may be out of sight on ActiveRain, but always remember, you are not out of mind. People care about you and miss you. The career we chose is very unique. We understand when people are busy. And we also care enough to check in from time to time because people like yourself, really do matter.

There is something about AR that makes some people happy, frequently frustrated when things don't work... but isn't that just like our own systems? They are forever changing. Right now, some things in our Texas contracts will change on May 15 and we have some new Addendum's. Business changes are everlasting. But people are real and I doubt there are as many referrals that actually come to fruition. The totality of referrals is not the premise. Building and maintaining relationships on AR because people are good, is just as fine. Real good people, like yourself are needed and appreciated. You have brought a lot of value to many people. Please don't ever forget that.

I wish you good health, success, and good friends who will always be there for you, when you need them.

Patricia

Debe Maxwell, CRS - What I greatly appreciate about you, is that I don't find you to be pretentious. This may sound silly, but I feel as if a Care Bear resides inside your heart. You are very enlightening and helpful. Empathy grows deep within of your heart. Also, when something resonates, such as, missing members on ActiveRain, namely, Nick T Pappas you respond quickly.

Even though there's no denying the fact that you are one of the busiest people here on ActiveRain with unique responsibilities at home and business, you never make others feel sorry for you or your family. Seriously, I don't know if you are related to Helen Reddy, "I Am Woman," but you sure are strong and caring - and not that syrupy type either.  Also, even though I only met you once, and talked to you by phone, you really HEAR people, even when they aren't talking. I think you can draw out sugar from solid rocks. I hope you never stop being that exceptional woman and member on ActiveRain.

You are special.

Patricia, I have been on AR a long time too, many changes have taken place and sometimes we had great leaders other times no so much. I found that when there is mediocre leadership it effects many members in different ways.... some leave others grouse and others just do their own thing. To me you have been such a ray of hope, there are a handful of truly kind people on this platform and I feel lucky to have gotten to know them and you are clearly on top of that list. Hope you will continue to inspire the rest of us who wish we could be 10%  as kind as you ....Endre

Endre Barath, Jr. - Well, this is the first time I had to take a break and have a bawl bath. Those tears were very refreshing, thanks to your special words that touched my soul.

ActiveRain is like a complex labyrinth of bloggers from the Real Estate Industry trying to make a difference and survive! Since I've been on AR, the industry went from a Buyer's Market to Foreclosures and Short Sales; then Seller's Market + Multiple Offers with over list price. During those tough times, we were all struggling and the best support came from others who licked their wounds the same way we did. This was something we could discuss discreetly with our peers. And there were people like Roger who kept us laughing or blogging about Mickey. We ALL relished those treasured stories. For me, it was like reading a bedtime story after dark and knowing that one day, I'd wake up and everything would be okay because Mickey said so!

Camaraderie is a gift and many here developed really good friendship. Until you walk in another person's shoes, you can't commiserate with anyone else. Sure, our support  was virtual, but it was a topic we could all relate too. Any offering of support at that time was better than nothing at all. I know I didn't get local support but having that from people who knew and understood and offered an olive branch was so nurturing and I welcomed it with open arms. Believing that Leadership on AR was in our corner was exactly what many were not getting from their own Brokers. Going to RainCamp and meeting the Leadership, discovering they put on their pants, shoes, shirts the same way was such a relief. I've been to many Conventions and never met the gods of the Real Estate Industry. ActiveRain was something that came into my life, when I needed it most. We have been through growing pains and I think we all just want the pains to stop so that we continue to GROW together.

As business owners, we all have a purpose, objectives, and our own mission statement. Strategy and implementation is more successful when there is motivation and inspiration. In my opinion, career folks who are self-employed NEED stimulated brains and ideas. And when we bounce good ideas off each other, it shapes us into better people.

Thank you, Endre for telling me how you feel. There are days when I feel like giving up but then someone like you comes around and snaps me out of it. I will always be grateful. Believe it or not, when someone mentions L.A. now, I only think of you, not Hollywood, just you. Virtual friends like yourself may be invisible, but I can hear you loud and clear and I know you're trustworthy. Sincerely, I thank you.

Nina Hollander - Although often frustrating, you have to admit, some of the best agents who really understands the business stay here. I'm glad you're here for me and I promise to be there for you. It helps to have colleagues who understands.

Not only are you a wonderful Cat lady, you're a great AR friend too! I feel like I've known you for a long, long time. You clearly know the business. I respect you very much. It would be fun to sit down and have a cup of coffee or tea with you to listen to your stories and all the places you lived. You must have a lot of interesting relocation stories. I moved 8 times and learned something about myself from each and every move. However, I never lived in any country other than the United States.

You're like a tree, you're roots are everywhere! I visualize you to be sturdy, strong, someone who can visualize what's coming and I'm pretty positive you're a great Real Estate Agent who really gets what buyers and sellers need.

May you always be successful and full of life and energy. Thank you for being a friend!

Good morning, Patricia... thank you so much for this "love" letter and right back at you, my friend. I also feel as if we've been friends forever and respect you, your professionalism and humanity more than words can ever express. (You do it soooo much better than I do.) One day, we will have that opportunity to sit down together face to face and I, for one, can't wait!

Nina Hollander - I wouldn't want you to be like me. You do express yourself very well and sending you a "love" letter is because I like the way you spend your time on ActiveRain and promote good will to all. When it comes to building a business and maintaining relationships, you know what is truly important. Plus, you make me feel important too!

As business owners, we must be able to organize and execute our priorities and blogging is something I know we both take seriously. It is always fun to hear from you. You know how to make others feel special. That's something I believe many agents are missing in their life because they are too busy running their business. I see you as a person who knows how to manage life balance.

Cheers to the many conversations we've had on AR and double cheers for that sit down meeting.
