The Prince George Relay for life held Saturday, May 10, to Sunday, May 11, was a great success! Again, new records were set in several areas..over $450, 000 was raised, at least $40, 000 more than last year. There were 15 more teams, for a total of 155, and about 400 more participants. Good job Prince George!
We don't want to forget the AIDS walk, an annual fundraiser for the AIDS/HIV support agency Positive Living North, scheduled for Saturday, May 24, as well. Registration begins at 10:00am, at the Fire Pit (1120 3rd Ave, Prince George, BC). According to Northern Health, it looks as though we may have a serious problem on our hands, especially among aboriginal people. Statistics reveal that in 2006, 74% of infections were among the aboriginal community. So all of Prince George is encouraged to get out there, walk, run, bike..and support our community in raising funds to further the battle against AIDS.
