Sugar Land Approves Bonds For Telfair MUDs

The City of Sugar Land has approved the sale of more than $15 million in bonds by two municipal utility districts serving the rapidly-growing Telfair subdivision.

In January of 2006, the taxable value of property in MUD 137 was $11 million, and a year later it was $73 million. The value now stands at $200 million.

MUD 137 was authorized to sell $7,980,000 in bonds. There are currently 516 homes within the MUD, with an additional 95 under construction. Prices on the homes run from $200,000 to $600,000.

MUD 138's valuation currently stands at $155 million. It was authorized to sell $7,425,000 in bonds.

There are currently 234 homes in the MUD and another 104 are being built. Most are in the $1 million range.

Fort Bend County Runs On More Than $71M In Property Taxes

Just-released government figures show that property owners supply the huge majority of money - about $71.5 million in 2007 - used to run Fort Bend County government.

Those figures, released last week by the county auditor's office, show County Assessor/Tax Collector Patsy Schultz's office collected just under $73 million in 2007. Of that, $71.48 million came from property tax collections. 13 other offices also produce revenue for Fort Bend County.

Sugar Land Planning & Zoning Committee Gives Approval To Final Replat Of Business Park

The Sugar Land Planning and Zoning Commission gave final approval to the replat of the Sugar Lane Business Park during Tuesday's meeting.

A preliminary replat was approved by the committee in March. At that time, the commission granted approval with several conditions, including revision to remove right-of-way dedication from plat boundary at University Boulevard, correction of Master Notes combining notes 6, 7 and 8 and elimination of note 22, correction in total block to show replat of "Sugar Land Business Park FBCCPR 20080004" and completion of remaining engineering items, including traffic impact analysis and construction plans.

Sugar Lane Business Park consists of seven commercial reserves and a total of 16.5 acres of land at the intersection of US 90A and University Boulevard at the Sugar Park Lane cul-de-sac. There is still land available for sale and development i the Sugar Land Business Park.
