Water Wisely

Image for Article: Building Soil 101

Did you know that up to half of the water an average household consumes is used to maintain lawns and landscapes? With record droughts in many parts of the country it just makes sense to conserve water. But that doesn't mean sacrificing a beautiful yard! By incorporating water-wise features and plants into your landscape you'll not only help the environment, you'll also save time and money.

Visit my friends blog to find out more about how to Create a water-wise yard!

Really nice post and picture.  Zero scape gardens are what I grew up with in Colorado, and they can have some unusually beautiful plants and flowers as well.  Thanks for the article.  Who's the gardener at your house?

Nice post David and pictures. We do spend quite a lot of time in our garden and a lot of time watering. Mulching really helps conserve on water. Let's hope that we do not have a drought like last year.

Wayne and Michael, When I have time I am the gardener, I love playing in the dirt, and it was passed down starting with my grandmother.  They do have some really great plants.  But these pictures are from my friends in Texas.

Ironic that we have all this water in Chicago, and our Buckingham fountain is computer controlled from Atlanta.
