The negative media has been talking for to long about the downside of the real estate market.  The negative media has said that the bubble is bursting!  So here's one for you Mr. & Ms. Negative Media, on May 3, 2008 I listed this home in Ballwin, MO.  The first buyer that came into this home wrote a contract and it was accepted and we will be closing on May 28, 2008.  Did I mention Mr. & Ms. Negative Media that not only were they the first buyers to view the home but, it was the first day on the market.  Now I don't know about you but I believe that the real estate market is STILL ALIVE and WELL in all of the St. Louis market area.

Not only do I believe that the real estate market is alive and well in the St. Louis market area but I also believe that the real estate market is doing well across the U.S of A.  I am also confident that Mr. & Ms. Negative media does not want to hear or read about this POSITIVE report and others just like it around the country.

Maybe I am wrong but I think that we can change the NEGATIVE media with more positive reports.

So here's to you Mr. & Ms. Negative Media.

Hi Don, GREAT job on turning the tables!  It is changing in Brevard County Florida, and I am hearing the same thing from others.  By the time the media catches up it will be too late and they will have once again misled so many people.  Congratulations and good luck!

Great post. We are doing well here in Sugar Land as well. Its a matter of educating people brainwashed by the media.

I present the latest local facts and stats they prove we are defying the national trend and media.

05/22/2008 09:10 PM by Mike Wong Realtor, GRI (Keller Williams Realty Southwest)

Give them a break.  They needed to fill up the empty spots.  It may affect the national opinion but what about their ratings?

Real Estate is a local business driven by local people. Touche!

Wow, that is terrific ....... we are doing OK in New Jersey, there is a slow down and the prices may have leveled, but people are still buying and what a great market for that!

05/22/2008 09:22 PM by Ernie & Barb Suto (Century 21 Preferred Realty)

Every day, the media needs to scare the public about something or the other.  When it's a slow scare day, they always have real estate gloom and doom ....

It's very different and unique to think this way, but the market is only what the people think something is worth.  So if a large communicator like the media tells everyone that the market is horrible (so that they can sell newspapers and raise ratings), then of course the market will only get worse because they will instill the fact that the market is horrible.  I can't believe how the media in general doesn't know the great great damage that it adds to the situation.

Michael,

I didn't think that Texas was as bad as they were saying.  Remember the Alamo.  Take another one Mr. & Ms. Negative Media.

Melody,

I think they would have to change to filling the empty spaces with the positive reports and eat a lot of CROW.

David,

You are so right, GO LOCALS with a POSITIVE ATTITUDE.

Thanks to all for dropping in and commenting.

My market is great and positive too! I too get irritated with the media, thanks for the positive post

My last three listings have all sold in 5 days for almost full asking price. And I just sold another house at almost asking price that had only been listed for 5 days.  The magic number is 5. The media is so misleading.

Ernie & Barb,

Hey Mr. & MS. Negative Media take a look at that even New Jersey is doing GREAT in a soft market.  OOOps another POSITIVE REPORT.

Don't Mr. and Mrs. Negative Media wonder what they are doing to their own home values?

05/22/2008 09:46 PM by Lisa Friedman Central New Jersey Real Estate (Pinnacle Realtors)

Jean,

Did you say that Northern California is doing GREAT?  Gee that is different than what the reports are.  Go NORTHERN CALIFORNIA.

Lisa,

East coast doing well?  Hmmmmmm, Take that Mr. & Ms. Negative Media!

Thank you ladies for dropping in and commenting.  You don't know how good these reports are.  Thanks for getting the positive word out about our market.

Lisa,

I would hope that they do.  But it really makes one wonder.  I would really hope that we would start doing more positive posts on what is happening in our different markets.  We alos have an opportunity to report what the different agents are doing to help their community.  The media does not always look for the positive.  Instead of "if it bleeds it leads" mentality it would be nice if they were to start looking for the good in people and reporting that.

Don, totally agree.  They should do some good human interest stories.  And to me, gossip is not news.  News should be filled with something meaningful.  I wil do some positive market spin posts soon to help out the cause.  Logging off - have a good night :)

Great new Don!  Things are moving up here too.  Positive breeds positive, yes?

Wonderful news Don - glad things are going well for you.  Maybe now The media will find something else to harp on.

Lisa,

I look forward to reading some of the positive coming out of New Jersey.  I believe that we can begin changing the negative one blog at a time.

Hi Don,
I'm with you, let's keep cranking out the positive reports and see if we can't make a dent in what the media is spouting.  Good job.

05/23/2008 06:22 AM by Cynthia Tilghman, Realtor® Onslow County NC Home Specialist (Kingsbridge Realty, Inc)

Don...

You showed them! The best way to dispel this notion of a down market is ti ignore it. Congratualtions on your sale.

05/23/2008 07:13 AM by Richard Weisser Coweta Fayette Real Estate ERA United Realty

Great job, thanks for sharing your good news! Yes, I agree - ignore the media. Except that is what consumers are talking about these days. I'd bet there is PLENTY to talk about at open houses these days. Educating the consumers that come through open houses on how good the market REALLY is can only help increase the buyer's confidence!

05/23/2008 07:21 AM by got House?® Kristi Young (got House?® Real Estate Network)

Don - great post! Things are great in my area as well. Actually, we never experienced close to what the media was portraying!

05/23/2008 08:54 AM by Leesa L. Finley, REALTOR® Wake Forest NC Homes (Circa Properties)

Cynthia,  Thank you for dropping in and commenting.  We do need to make a dent everytime we have a chance.

Richard, I think that we are strong enough to dispel all of the negative media if we put our mind to it.  Thank you sir for stopping by and commenting.

Kristi,  I think that we need to know our stats and then we can educate the public as to what is really going on.  Once we begin doing that and believing those stats then and only then will we make a difference.  But, WE CAN DO IT ONE CONSUMER AT A TIME.

Thanks to all of you and may you have a GREAT weekend.

I love the positive reports and good will toward buyers and sellers and always pass them on as new releases to the media hoping that they will change their view of the current market and figure out that it is all about perspective.

05/24/2008 12:21 AM by Todd Clark (Realtor), GRI (Your Washington Co. Real Estate Expert) (Kastings & Associates)

Todd,

Thank you for stopping by and commenting.  Positive reports are, IMHO, the way we can begin to turn around the negative media.  You are right it is all about perspective but it always seems to t=be theirs and not ours that is reported on.

05/24/2008 06:25 AM by Don Rogers REALTOR®, CRS O'Fallon MO & St Charles County MO homes (RE/MAX Gold)

Too bad the media doesn't tell that story but like most Real Estate stories it won't sell papers so they won't talk about tit. Congratulation on the sale.

05/24/2008 07:05 PM by Terry Westbrook ~ Realtor(R) Grand Rapids Mi Ada/Cascade Real Estate (Five Star Real Estate, LLC Grand Rapids , MI)

Terry,  You are so right this story and all of those across the USofA won't sell papers but, if we were positive about what is going on in our different areas I think that we could take a little bit of their fodder away.  What do you think?

Thank you for dropping by and commenting.
