A Beautiful Winding River in Clarksville, TN
Clarksville is a river town and the winding Cumberland River is a must see if you come to visit. The city maintains the parks on the river and we have some fine ones. There is also a river museum and several miles of walking trails. Freedom Point and the Marina are busy places every day of the week.
These amenities and the boat launches, playgrounds and amphitheater draw people to the river eand not just on the weekends. You will see boaters and just observers sitting and watching. During the holiday season, Christmas on the Cumberland lights up the banks with a hundred thousand lights that bring thousands of people to the river. It is a very popular event.
Clarksville is over 200 years old. The river brought commerce and business and people settled here. Much of the tobacco crop over the centuries was shipped down the river toward the Mississippi River. Farming has helped grow the town.
Clarksville is a historic town and I like to emphasize that and show the pretty downtown we have. There are so many beautiful parks and trails along the river and the recent addition of the Riverwalk and the Marina and brought more people downtown. It's a place of relaxation and recreation which is a vital part of the lifestyle of Clarksville TN. This is a great place to see a pretty sunset too.
