Ill huff and Ill puff and Ill blow your house down...

Green Building Materials in residential construction have evolved over time.  The post I wrote about EcoRock  was a widely read article that highlighted an eco-friendly drywall to be used in place of its paper predecessor. Now the days of straw houses and the three little pigs are over. Now it's straw walls.

While browsing one of my favorite Green Building websites I came across this unique building material.  Green building products have become main-stream in the San Francisco Bay Area, especially in my backyard - Pleasanton's Avignon community is the first zero energy residential development in Alameda County, CA.

Enviro Board is a low cost method or technology that converts various types of straws of fibrous wastes into building panels.  Walls made of straws grasses may be cause for concern I would think. What would the big bad wolf say if these panels were resistant hurricanes and earth quakes?

Enviro-board is resistant to mold, mildew, fire and termites while still remaining non-toxic! The enviro-board panels offer an added value of energy efficiency in Green Building and are approved by LEED as well.  LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environment Design) is a building program that is a nationally accepted standard for green building developed by the US Green Building Council.  Enviro-board is sure to be a building product used in residential construction to save energy and be versatile enough for various building applications. A picture is worth a thousand words though. Watch this video on the technology of converting waste into walls!!!

Brian, good post. Just shows you what a little ingenuity can do. Now if someone could make gasoline.
