CFLs Saving you Money & the first step to GREEN Living

For those of you that aren't aware the month of October is the National Energy Awareness Month. To help promote this "Go Green" time of the year, PG&E is generously giving away one million compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs). They have collected over a thousand volunteers that are very passionate about getting the word out about all the benefits of CFLs to distribute them at over 300 events across northern and central California.

If your not a believer, Al Gore and the EPA loves them too! But if you're still not sold on compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs), think of this statistic; CFLs are one of the simplest steps in creating a Green home environment. According to the Department of Energy,

  • Each bulb saves people $30 over its life compared to an iridescent bulb

If you multiply that savings by the amount of light bulbs each home has that is located in Pleasanton's Ruby Hill community or communities like that; the savings add up to the thousands!!! Think about it..

  • Lighting your home accounts for 20% of the average homeowner's electric bill
  • CFLs use 75% less energy than there counterpart

Please jump on board with PG&E and other local community groups in the continuous effort to make the Bay Area and cleaner more environmentally friendly place for all of us to live in.

I have been buying these to replace my old bulbs, they really last longer.  How do we get the free bulbs?
