Smart crows!
I have the very best pets! Crows! They come to visit me each morning and each afternoon and see if I have given them a few treats. If I walk out they greet me with a “Caw, caw, caw.” Translated that means, “ Hey, here’s the old woman again! She may have food!”
Crows mate for life, so the books say, and I seem to have three that stay close to my house. The third one may be a slightly slow one who can’t attract a mate. Anyway, they love me and I appreciate their lack of required care.
Today was my birthday which I always keep secret but my daughter, who talks a bit much, spread it around. I received so much attention that I may have another one soon!
But back to my crows…..
I wake up at 5:00 am and gather the newspapers and read the news until daylight. This morning was no different. I was reading the paper when it became almost daylight. I looked out the window and saw a strange sight. There was something standing upright in the grass with a little glitter ribbon on it. It looked like a bottle of wine. I walked out to see what it was!
There was a bottle of bourbon named “OLD CROW!”
Now I have always heard that if crows like you they will bring you gifts! So here was my gift!!!!
I told my daughter what they’d done! She said that SHE had put the gift out there! She had gotten out of bed at 5:00 am, sneaked behind our house, and delivered the bottle to me for my birthday.
Shame! I always asked her to be truthful and here she’s claiming the OLD CROW bottle was from her!! I believe it was the crow’s gift to me. How they got it from the liquor store to my house may be a mystery but crows are smart!! Very smart!!
Can you believe my daughter is trying to claim credit for my gift from my crows? I may have to disinherit her!
