If I had a nickel for every time I was asked this question, I would have a lot of nickels.

I am sure all real estate agents are asked it all the time.

"How is the market?"

My boss always answers, "Unbelievable!"  He doesn't ever say good or bad.

The market is, after all, just the market.  It might be a great time to buy, or a great time to sell.

But it's always a great time for somebody.

So he always answers, "Unbelievable!"  That's it.

It's beautiful.  It says it all without really saying anything.

Short and sweet.

UNBELIEVABLE.

What are people looking for, anyway, when they ask "How is the market?"

Average market time?  Prices in the neighborhood?  How is my business??

Is it some sort of test...

A mini interview, perhaps.

"If this joker can't answer this simple question to my liking, he's gone." thinks the prospect.

I hope I answer well.  I think I do.

But I guess I might as well remove any doubt.  From now on, the market will always be...

"UNBELIEVEABLE!"

Ken

Ken - I like this response.  I remember in one of my earliest real estate classes that the instructor said to always say, "Great!" as a response to this question, which is sometimes simply lying.  I may start using this the next time this question is launched at me.

Love it!  I've been using UNBELIEVABLE for years now, as it covers the gamut of hot and cool markets.

This response sure beats the heck out of "Great!" and "Fantastic!", which is what almost every other broker tells their agents to say.

The market is always good!  Sometimes its better for buyers and sometimes its better for sellers.  The buyers have to have something to buy so there are sellers selling.  which is always a good market for us!

Ken- I went to a chamber mixer tonight and had the proverbial question asked...I used "unbelievable" and his response was..."good or bad?" I just had to laugh!!

That's a great answer for the million dollar question Ken!  Do the people who ask this question actually want an answer? OR is it kind of like saying "How are you doing"?
