Yesterday, our office (Real Living Real Estate Solutions) hosted a free First Time Buyers Seminar from 5:30 to almost 10 pm and the turn-out was fantastic!
As I sat there taking notes, I listened and tried to imagine myself as a first time buyer again...I wanted to experience this community event as they were experiencing it. With several guest speakers and topics from getting your finances and credit in order, mortgages, down payment assistance options and assistance with closing costs to the home-buying process, title insurance, inspections, appraisals, title insurance and life as a homeowner, there was a lot of information to absorb and I could only imagine the vast array of emotions that they were all feeling. This was a quite an educational and empowering evening! We had I'm guessing, 25-30 people (at least) who gave up over four hours to take control of their future and were now taking the very first steps to being a home-owner and going about it in a very smart way...good for them! And I also came away from the evening having learned quite a bit, as well.
Anyhow, this got me thinking again about why I chose to work in real estate and become a Realtor®. Being a person who tries to stay in tune to who I am as a person, in regards to what I'm passionate about, my unique skills and talents, and what drives me internally and truly makes me happy, I cannot begin to imagine any other career for myself that can be more gratifying not only for me, but for my clientele and to the one above! It's hard to put into words when trying to explain it to someone who just doesn't see the "big picture", (however I'm sure many of my fellow Realtors® understand), it's just something you either get or you don't.
That being said, one of my favorite quotes of all time is "if you have a job you love, you'll never work a day in your life", by Confucius. Although this is true in varying degrees, I do love what I do, so it certainly doesn't feel like work...especially when I'm reminded of why I am here. I have the ability to help others just doing what I love doing, and in striving to learn more, to understand more, and help others every chance I see an opportunity; I can see the unlimited possibilities for anyone seeking the American Dream! The dream is in all of us...as Realtors®in this tough market, we have an amazing chance to really make a difference in someones life, including our own!
So, to all of you, I'll close my thoughts by saying, "Be safe and have a fun Memorial Day Weekend! God bless America and the American Dream!"
By the way, if you're out and about Southwest Orlando this weekend, please stop by my open house and introduce yourself...the details are posted on my website under "Open Houses".
