Delray Beach...Once Again

For this Saturday’s post, I had planned to look for quotes about weddings since today is the Royal Wedding. However, there was another school shooting in Santa Fe, Texas, about 36 miles from my hometown of Houston.

I don’t have any answers for how to stop this. And, I don’t think there is just one answer.

I am sad for those who have had that period in their lives that should be carefree and full of joy taken from them.

Kathy,

Like everyone else, we are deeply saddened by these events.  We all have to look deeper for the solutions without prejudice.  If we can do that, things will align and solutings will come easily.  A

I try to find the good in people, especially people of opposing viewpoints, because being right or being smarter doesn't count in war. Until we start figuring out a way to come together, to support other human beings in their journey through life despite our differences, chaos will undoubtedly and tragically continue.

Kathy, many join you in grief and asking questions.

We need to make sure we are asking the right questions.

What causes a person to take another person's life?

Are we ever a part of causing pain in another that would lead them to violence?

Are we willing to come together and be a part of the solution?

Our prayers and thoughts go out to the Houston community.

You're right Dorie Dillard I feel that so many of these shooters feel separated from everyone around them, add that to 24/7 news and it's sad.

Nina Hollander one of the musicians in my brother's band knows the officer who was shot in the arm. He just retired from the police force.

Wayne Martin contrary to what some might think, unfortunately, there isn't one answer.

Gabe Sanders I'm with you on that. I have a strong dislike of politics.

Barbara Todaro what struck me was when one of the young students said that she always felt like it could happen there at her school.

Sheri Sperry - MCNE® there has to be a balance with the public's need to know and providing more fuel to others out there. I do think they're trying to put more focus on the victims and not the shooter.

Joan Cox I think of the young lives that didn't have a chance to experience what anyone should be able to experience.

Grant Schneider personally, if you leave politics out of most things we'd be better off.

Debb Janes EcoBroker and Bernie Stea JD you're so right. When I was in high school our biggest worry was if we'd get a car when we turned 16 and if we'd have a date to the prom.

Ron and Alexandra Seigel  A Boca Raton High School student started "We Dine Together" club to reach out to students when they were eating alone.  Ideas like this are a good start.

Elizabeth Weintraub Sacramento Real Estate Agent, Top 1% of Lyon Agents I could not agree more. We have to choose what's right not what side someone is on.

John Wiley I think those are the kinds of questions that we need to ask ourselves and those in government.

How about we begin with focusing on (1) Mental health issues (2) Reasonable gun laws (3) The entertainment industry becoming committed to less violence in movie, game and song. (4) Politics that is more about bringing the country together, rather than extreme lunatic fringe agendas that divide the country, and have no common sense solutions!

Kathy these shootings do not make any sense, and are not helped by the politics that some have been playing in order to promote their agenda

It is very scarey. I worry about my grandchildren going to school. My younger ones won't start school for a few years, I can't imagine the devastation that the families and friends of the victims are experiencing.

Morning Kathy.

Thus the debate continues.  We can control all of the guns however, those with mental issues we can't.  IMO, this debate will continue long after we are gone.

Hi Kathy,
It is so horrific.  Something I can't even comprehend.  My sentiments align with Myrl Jeffcoat .  There is no one answer and we all need to come together with a common goal... not personal agendas.  All of these incidents can be traced back and there were "signs" that were ignored.  How do we help these people?
