"We invite you to choose this place; To visit, to explore, or to stay."
Last Sunday, I shared We Are Wenatchee Part 1. Today I am pleased to share We Are Wenatchee Part II.
Our top employing industries are: Agriculture, government, health services, retail trade, and hotel and food services.
Although the hydro-power industry itself isn't a huge employer in the area, it is a key economic driver because it provides such economical power to residents and businesses. Wenatchee and the surrounding region has become a very popular choice among businesses who rely on large amounts of electrical power.
It is interesting to note there are 2 additional hotels being built as I write because we have such a great tourist industry. You can see the under construction Hilton Gardens in the picture above. I took this picture yesterday from the rooftop of the Cascadian Hotel.
Having 300 days with sunshine per year and pretty much unlimited recreational opportunities makes Wenatchee a popular destination for weekend get-a-ways, extended vacations, regional recreational events, and a plethora of conventions and conferences.
We have a wide variety of cultural events throughout the year including live plays, symphonies, concerts and other entertainment for the young and old. Yesterday I had the pleasure of attending an event hosted by the Wenatchee Valley Museum and Cultural Center, which included tours of 10 historic structures, including 8 homes, a Mausoleum and a hotel built in 1929. I'll write more about those later. The museum hosts many events throughout the year.
Wenatchee and the geographic area surrounding our valley is relatively small but we are mighty, just like the Columbia River that runs through the heart of our town.
Morning Carol.
You forgot to mention the best thing about Wenatchee, the golf courses of course. Which reminds me, T-time is 2.5 hours from now.

Hi James Dray
We aren't really known for our courses... but we do have several nice choices in the region. Hope you have a fun game!
Hi Grant Schneider ,
Yes, I love the sunshine. I grew up in Western Oregon and moved to Wenatchee for the dryer climate.
Good morning Wayne Martin ,
Yep... love the sunshine. Having grown up in Western Oregon where rain is prolific, I prefer the drier climate. And, we have plenty of water to keep things green.
Carol,
Thank you for introducing us to Wenatchee in Washington State, and I am happy that your area is thriving and growing with tourism and employment. A
Hi Ron and Alexandra Seigel ,
Thank you for stopping by to learn more about the place I call home!
"The museum hosts many events throughout the year."
I really should put my glasses on before reading blogs. Because you had the word, "Mausoleum," in the previous sentence, I had mixed up museum/mausoleum, and was trying to figure out WHAT kinds of events the mausoleum might host!

People in Seattle don't appreciate where most of their cheap electricity comes from and would be smart to take a little trip to Grand Coulee Carol Williams

Hi Paul S. Henderson, REALTOR®,CRS,
We are blessed to have such inexpensive hydro-power, thanks to the post WWII construction of many dams.
I’ve missed some of these posts. I guess I have to catch up! Nice work! Very nice place!

Hi Laura Cerrano ,
Hydro power is certainly a big deal here. We have the Bitcoin miners clamoring for a big share of our inexpensive. It's become quite the controversy because they use so much power.
Hi Sheri Sperry - MCNE®
I'm glad you are enjoying the series. I love all three of the videos Featured.
