It’s All About Giving…

How does it feel when you give? It may be donating time, money, or something else. How meaningful is it knowing that in some small way you are making a big difference for someone?

I had that pleasure again last weekend when I volunteered for The Let It Be Foundation https://www.theletitbefoundation.org/. A team of us cooked breakfast for 3,000 people who ran a 5K to raise money and awareness for kids with serious health challenges.

This was my second year of getting up at 3:30 am to go unload a truck full of supplies, then delight in standing over a hot grill for a few hours. All this to support those who contributed by running, walking, or getting pushed in a stroller for a great cause.

What is meaningful enough to you to give your time, money and talent?

I did something like this a few years ago where hundreds of people gathered to prepare packets of high-protein food to send oversees. The sense of camaraderie and fellowship was amazing and it ended up being really fun.

One reason is that the consumer does not see us as "giving people" but rather takers.
