It’s not how you start…it’s how you finish.
You don’t always have to win…sometimes, victory is found in defeat.
You don’t always have to finish first.
You don’t always have to be the best.
Just ask Derek Redmond.
Derek Redmond is an Olympic Hero. Not because he won a Gold medal. Not because he set an Olympic record. Actually, he finished last – but it was HOW he finished.
18 seconds into the 400-meter race in the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games, Derek Redmond’s hamstring tore. Initially, he could not stand. After getting up, he certainly could not run, so he did the only thing he could do, he began to limp his way around the track towards the finish line.
Even then he could not make it. What happened next will have you crying your eyes out if you Youtube the video – his dad came running out of the stands, pushed through security and pushed through the medics (nobody is stopping a parent from helping their child). Dad wrapped his arms around Derek and the two limped around the track as 65,000 people rose to their feet and began to roar. The stadium – went – NUTS, cheering them on as they crossed the finish line (Derek sobbing in his father’s arms).
Ya’ see, we don’t always have to be the best. We don’t always have to win. We just have to finish.
No matter what happens today, be sure to finish. Keep your chin up, your eyes ahead and you will always reach the finish line.
Have a great day my friends!!

Good morning, Khash- it's often the backstory where the lesson is revealed.

Hi Khash- this is why I love sports and the backstories. Often I couldn't even tell you who won the last Big game even if I watched it. But those stories stay with you for a long time. Good one!
