Ever drive by the same thing over and over again and never really see it? I did just that for years.

I think I've been making regular trips to Concord NH, driving the same route for a good 18 years or so. The same route at least 3 times a month and I never really noticed this before.

This week maybe my eyes were open as I was trying to finalize in my mind a decision I was about to make, a big decision for me. Taking a step that if successful will impact me and my family for the next few years.

I've always volunteered my time and never minded that commitment as I always felt that I got much more than I ever gave.  But I was afraid to take this one step...could I be a good leader for my state assocaition? Such an important thing.

Then I saw as I was driving by the sun reflect off the Gold Dome of our State Capital.

The Gold reflected perfectly across the water...I couldn't believe my eyes it was just so incredibly perfect!

I quickly turned around and jumped out of my car camera in hand.  My picture did not capture the reality but it came close. I can't believe I drove by this same spot so often and never saw the glow of the dome across the water like that. It was perfect and so right!

Ever have something like that happen? I think maybe it's an omen of sorts.

Reflections of the Capital

BEST OF LUCK... As someone that ran for a state wide office .. one thing I learned .. the campaign time is about marketing and it's only after you get elected do you get to make change happen. If you want to be in a position to make change you have to build a market plan keep it clear keep it focused and ask for the vote don't assume the vote will be given .. we learn to ask for the listing. learn to ask them to vote. Don't try and educate just the masses to your ideas less then 10% want the details of the facts the majority want to vote for those they know or think they know and most closely identify.

Thank you for the advice Eric. I know I have to ask for the order and plan on sending a letter and making a call to every member of our BOD.  I won't be running un-opposed so it will be a race.

LOL...Linda. I will be following in some big shoes. Jay was president in 2004 and Ann Cummings in 2003 and see they are still normal. ( I think)

I don't know Monika...Ann seems pretty normal, but Jay???? He golfs! There's just something not normal about walking around for hours trying to get a little white ball into a little bitty hole they stick a flag in! LOL  I think it's some kind of syndrome or something!

Par 3 is as close as I've come to golfing except for one time our neighbor was a golf pro and managed a course here. His wife thought it was great sport to take me out for a good laugh!

I have tried it, had lessons 3 years in a row! Lot of good it did me! Poor Jay, I don't know if he was sad or relieved.

Good luck, you will make a wonderful president.  I know what you mean by not noticing things as you drive.  Living in Hawaii, I take the beauty for granted too much.

Hi Monika,

I hope you win!! That's amazing that the Capitol reflects as it does... We don't get reflections like that often, because that would require sunshine, but we do have the most amazing sun-rain (simultaneously sunshining and raining...)

Hey Linda and Monika - I know how to hold a golf club!  My dad tried and tried to teach me because we lived on a golf course at one of the Air Force bases where we lived.  Both he and my mom were big golfers, my dad played in tournaments quite a bit.  But alas, when he kept trying to teach me, that was the last thing a teenage girl in high school wanted to learn.  I now wish I had learned to play back then.  But who wants to be normal anyway?  Right Jay!??!?!?!?!?!?   ;-)

Monika - campaign manager, huh?  I've done that for a couple of others who came after me and Jay.  August will be here before we know it - Erik's right, ask for the order!  Happy to help!

Thank you Katrina...it was an incredible sight to see.

Sara... I can't imagine all that rain your area is known for. But my brother in-law loved it out there! He described the rain the same way! Made it sound so romantic.

Ann... You have the job!!! As long as I don't have to learn to golf I should be okay.:)

Missy...I understand fully. Since Blogging I see so much more than I ever have before.

Monika,

Get the papers and fill them out and go for it.  We need more people filling these seats and you are perfect it for the job.  Good luck and I will be looking for a very positive post on your election.
