We were up bright and early this morning to be on our way. We loaded the car with the help of my great husband, John, and took off heading on I-15 south to Spanish Fork Canyon, then on to Price, then Green River, then Grand Junction Colorado. We were on our way to see Rose and baby Matthew. Then we continued East to Aspen and Vail which are big ski areas and saw a lot of snow and lots of cabins and housing for the skiers who come in from all over the country. We followed a lot of winding curves on I-70 until we got to the junction of 470 which we took south to Colorado Springs, which took about 45 min, to find our way to Rose's apartment. We arrived about 4:30 in the late afternoon, and there was much hugging and kissing, and oohing over Matthew who loved every minute. He is adorable. He is a month old and so alert and the biggest dark blue eyes you ever saw. He loves all the attention.
Wendy, my daughter, had not seen Rose for 7 years as Rose lived in FL much of that time. Her husband, JP is in the military and just left for Iraq April 12, for another year. He got to come home for the birth and then had to return, which was very hard on both of them. We visited, had a bite of dinner, and went to bed.
We had to take turns holding Matthew and trying to eat breakfast in between, but loved every minute of it. We first went to a little shop that had a bit of everything from beautiful fairy statues to metaphysical stuff. I found a fairy windchime I fell in love with and just had to have it...so I bought it. I will hang it in our bathroom window.
We went out for Chinese for a late lunch and Matthew slept amost all the time. We went to a Chinese Buffet that was delicious and we gorged ourselves and enjoyed some more visiting. We rented some movies and spent the night watchin them and taking turns holding Matthew in between Rose nursing him.
I stayed there for 4 days, and then business was calling, so I drove home alone and left Wendy there to be with Rose and the baby. They were having such a great time reconnecting, they couldn't bear to part.
They plan to drive out to Utah together in a couple of weeks and stay here in Orem with us til the end of May, then drive back to Colorado Springs to spend time with her mother-in-law who is coming to help out clear from Conneticut.
Wendy plans to fly back there in a few weeks to spend more quality time with both of them and to observe little Matthew as he grows and develops.
