Lynchburg, Virginia
Lynchburg, Virginia is located in Central Virginia approximately one hour from Charlottesville to the north and Roanoke to the west. Founded in 1786 by John Lynch, a ferry operator, the city is located on the James River. Lynchburg's population is estimated at 68,000, including the surrounding counties of Amherst, Appomattox, Bedford and Campbell there is a population of approximately 203,000. Views of the Blue Ridge Mountain can be enjoyed from many areas of the city and the Peaks of Otter are especially beautiful. The entrance to the Blue Ridge Parkway and the Appalachian Trail are just a short drive. Smith Mountain Lake, below is about an hour from Lynchburg and features 500 miles of shoreline.

Downtown Lynchburg's features include historic districts, restaurants, shopping and museums. We have a wonderful Visitor Center and the Community Market, below, features indoor and outdoor vendors.
