(1) They don't ask enough questions of their lender and miss out on the best deal.

(2) They don't act quickly enough to make a decision and someone else buys the house.

(3) They don't find the right real estate professional who is willing to help you through the homebuying process.

(4) They don't do enough to make their offer look good to a seller.

(5) They don't think about resale before they buy. The average first-time buyer only stays in a home for four years.

Number 6 they get real estate advice from their friends and family who have no real estate expertise.

With a great agent they can mitigate all these issues.  That's what we are here for!  I do agree with Randy's comment too.  I just had a first time buyer think that he could get 4% interest because his mother, who supposedly is in real estate (?) told him that the prime rate was 4, so he should get right around it...... WOW?!

Number 7 - They walk into a builder's open house and buy with no negotiation and no representation.
