Why should you use Active Rain (AR)? I know, it's a strange name for a Real Estate blog and site.

I would have never "googled" this as a Real Estate networking site.

If I hadn't learned about this through my current broker, I would have thought this site was for the "Rain forest saviors!"

So, Why did they call this site, "Active Rain" and how did Active Rain end up as a great Real Estate site...

I'm still not sure.  There are a few original poster's here who can probably tell us...

So, my other question is, how does the general public find a site like Active Rain...as a reference to Real Estate...I mean...the connotation???

Please tell me!

Use it to connect to other agents and get answers (or at least opinions) about questions.

For example, today I wanted to research ethics issues regarding soliciting buyers who had been shown properties previously by other agents.  I wanted to see what other agents felt about the ethics of the situation.

I put "buyer ethics" in the search and found a bunch of good comments and analysis by a variety of agents around the country.

I am fairly new here but I like the place. Consumers?  From what I have seen, the value of AR to me is more as a resource than a marketing tool.

Karen....they'll google the tags that you have.  For example, you have Realtor, Florida, Fort Lauderdale, etc (by the way, your current tag has realtor mispelled so no one would find you under that search), does that help?

Karen, The name ActiveRain came from the term "Rain Maker". A rain maker is the term used for the head of a real esate team who is the mail lead generator. Kind of makes sense doesn't it?

I don't think the consumer, at this, time will find AR directly but will be lead here by finding our content through a search engine.

hhhhmmm, One thing which I have noticed with websites and internet companies..... they usually have an ODD name for what their business model is.

Good question.

Howard,

I have been on AR since last September and have written over 300 plus blogs.  I have over 100K point's and I use it to meet new friends and new co-workers. I also use it to learn...there are so many intelligent and knowledgeable people on here...you will see.  Thanks for posting.

Larry,

I wrote this as a blog.  I know what AR is for.  AR's dictionary does not recognize the (R) sign at the end of REALTOR(R) so when you type it in the tag line it reads, realtorr...thank you for bringing this to my attention.  I think I have fixed the one's in error.  If not, please do let me know.

Thanks, and how are you doing?

BB.,

Thank you for that info. I was not aware of that.  I knew one of you "seasoned" rainer's would have the answer...thank you for posting and say hello to your lovely wife!!!  :-)

Sean,

See BB's comment's. He explain's the reasoning here. Now it make's more sense to me...I guess they have AR tagged to "Real Estate" somewhere. K
