"M" is for Memorial
These photos of our people in the Armed Forces honoring the fallen, and especially Eleanor Roosevelt's poignant words, bring to mind the sacredness of Memorial Day. Not just a three-day holiday, but a time to reflect on those who've given all, that most of us can enjoy the freedom of a holiday.
Memorial Day is upon us. I hope you all plan on attending your local Memorial Day Ceremonies. Then at 3:00 p.m. please stop what you are doing for 2 minutes for 2 minutes of silence or a prayer for those in harm's way.
Last year I read this poem as part of my Memorial Day speech.
Eleanor Roosevelt's Wartime Prayer
Dear Lord,
Lest I continue
My complacent way,
Help me to remember that somewhere,
Somehow out there
A man died for me today.
As long as there be war,
I then must
Ask and answer
Am I worth dying for?
I pray that God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ will be kind to you and bless you with peace
