I just came back from a lifetime dream trip to see the mountain Gorillas in Uganda. I wasn't sure I could make it and was relieved that I survived. The trek was the hardest thing I ever did and even with a couple of porters it is impossible to describe. I just got an email from one of the people I traveled with. Apparently an American woman died in the last week there after a gorilla disturbed a wasps nest and stung her. Four other visitors were also stung and are still hospitalized. I am so sad this happened and very grateful I had a safe experience.

Good morning Sheila, I'm so glad you are safe. I hate being stung by any type or wasp, bee or hornet.

What to hear an awful story, Sheila? While walking through the jungles of Ecuador with a group of travelers, the guy in front of me was British, and he whined about everything. He was also very poky, walking so slowly. I wanted to get in front of him but I stayed behind, getting more and more irritated. Didn't want to be impolite or pushy.
Instead I sent brain waves in his direction, telepathically, for all the good that did, urging him to pep it up. Wishing I was in front. Thinking mean things about this guy.
Then, all of a sudden, out of nowhere, something fell from the sky, hit him on the head and forced him to the ground. It was a large branch. Gashed his head wide open!!!! One of the cooks at the camp stitched it up with a needle and thread.
I felt like I caused the accident. I felt terrible. He had to leave the next morning for proper medical care.

How horrible. I give you so much credit, Sheila. It's stories like this that keep me from venturing out like you.

Wasps were not what I expected would be the hand of tragedy.
This must have been someone who had no idea that they were allergic to bees.

Hello Chris Ann. The woman who died was a veterinarian. I think the amount of stings was beyond comprehension. Sheila

Thanks Yolanda. I love this photo too. I didn't know this woman and she traveled only four days after I did. I would never have imagined this. Sheila
