I recently visited Uganda to see the Mountain Gorillas. Uganda is the poorest country I have ever been to and life there is hard to describe. With that in mind I thought I would share some of the many everyday animals I saw while on safaris and from boat rides on the Nile and another river. By the way the Nile is the second largest lake in the world. Do you know the first?
What great looking photos. I would like to visit Africa myself some day. Our nephew and his wife are there in the Peace Corp now.

I guessed the last photo was African water buffalo, although I don't know if I've seen any. What is the bird? It looks like a baby with the fuzzy head, but that beak. It's kinda stork-like.

Oh, what a safari adventure, Sheila! It's sad about the poverty as it makes you wonder how these amazing creatures survive in impoverished countries.
