TODAY is Opening Day at the San Diego County Fair
OK, county fair goers! Today is the day the San Diego County Fair opens at the Del Mar Fairgrounds. The nation’s largest County Fair runs through July 4th (be aware the fair does not operate on Mondays and Tuesdays EXCEPT July 2nd and July 3rd).
Whether you plan to attend today, in the future, or perhaps not at all, be prepared for the traffic congestion on the freeway near the Via de la Valle exit, especially at rush hour, and on the nearby local roads.
The 2018 theme at the fair is “How Sweet it Is!” (hmmm, seems to me that was a famous Jackie Gleason line!). No matter, you can expect an abundance of sweet stuff at the fair to celebrate this year’s theme.
The San Diego County Fair always offers a huge range of exhibits and attractions, rides, games, animals, a busy and eclectic concert schedule, and plentiful food and drink options for just about every taste and budget.
Tickets can be ordered online. If spending just 1 day at the fair is not enough time, for extra savings you can also splurge and purchase a Season Pass for $28 which allows admission for all 26 days of the San Diego County Fair.
Parking at the fairgrounds is $15, and $25 for preferred parking. There are also a number of offsite parking locations, too.
The Del Mar Fair Grounds are located just off the 5 Freeway (Via de la Valle exit), at 2260 Jimmy Durante Boulevard. Call for information at 858-755-1161.
