What happens when a Top Ten country music singer/songwriter is struck with laryngitis and finds himself without a voice for six weeks? He discovers that the root of singing and song-writing is storytelling, picks up a pen and begins writing in a whole new format. This is exactly what happened to singer Radney Foster in 2015. Unable to communicate without a notepad and pen, Radney began writing what would become a collection of short stories titled For You to See The Stars.
When his voice returned, he created a 10 track album of songs paired to the stories which he recorded at the historic Sound Emporium in Nashville, produced by award winning Will Kimbrough. Foster has released eleven albums and has written eight number one hit singles including Raining on Sunday (Keith Urban), Nobody Wins (Foster), and I’m In (Keith Urban) among others.
Radney is touring bookstores with his collaborative project and will be coming to the Outer Banks this summer. In a partnership with the Dare County Arts Council and Waverider’s Coffee & Deli, Downtown Books is pleased to present Radney Foster for an evening of songs and stories at 6pm, June 13, at Waverider’s Coffee at Pirate’s Quay in Nags Head. He will also be signing his book and CD which will both be available for purchase.
