I recently started exercising on an elliptical machine we have in our back room at home. What a difference I have felt in my life! Working Out

I started out at pedaling for 15 minutes and then worked up to 20 the next day. The third day I made it to 25 minutes. On my eighth day, I burned 404 calories in 34 minutes! 3o days after starting I just burned 818 calories in 30 minutes!

Now, I want you to know that I'm not an exercise fanatic, but I have noticed renewal in my mind, emotions, body and relationships through extra movement. I feel more hopeful and encouraged!

If you need hope and encouragement, why not try something different?

Start out by taking a walk around the block or go up and down some stairs. Start out slowly and then increase it a minute a day with a goal of working up to 30 or 35 minutes each day.

I heard a medical doctor once say that if you walk 20 minutes a day, you will lose a half a pound a week.

When you move, think about the best, not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly; things to praise, not things to curse!

Extra movement has worked for me! I encourage you to try it. Little victories add up!

I'm up to about 1 hour a day on a stationary bike, which I try to ride most every day. If I can just stick with this, I hope to eventually get healthier and loose some lbs too. I definitely feel better about myself when I exercise.

Dan, 800 calories in only thirty minutes is awesome.  You must be REALLY moving.

My dog forces me to move!  You are on the right 'track' my friend.

Dan- Good for you.  I run a lot, and I always feel great afterwards and it's a great time for my thoughts.  Thank you for your first post to our new group, I look forward to all your posts.  If you like your elliptical, please check out my website at www.ellipti-trike.com.  It's my website for an outdoor elliptical trainer.  Let me know what you think!  All the best!

Dan - great for you. Elliptical is great, more effort than a bike or treadmill, but certainly much lower impact on the joints than a treadmill. We have a gym membership where we go 3 times a week. I do 36 minutes a day on one of their elipticals. At home, I do 3 days a week on a small home machine that we got a couple years ago. Down 10 lbs this year, but most importantly, resting heart rate and pulse rate are down, slightly lowered BP.

Keep it up.

Great post.

Hi Brian,

I am moving rapidly, but I worked up to it slowly by doing a little extra every day!

I'm getting ready to ride this a.m. I have the ceiling fan on, my magazines handy, now if I could just get this particular TV to work, I'd be happy..
