King Kamehameha Celebration Continues at Hulihe'e Palace

Holy cow, I shot so many photos of the celebrations on Saturday for King Kamehameha Day on the Big Island that I pretty much had to split up the day into two separate blogs. Aside from the Parade, there was a lot more stuff happening at Hulihe'e Palace.

Music, hula performances, food, beverages -- now that I stop to think about it, there was no beer or wine, which I didn't even notice at the time -- and many vendors with handmade goods. The pace of life in Hawaii is defniitely a far cry from what you see in Sacramento.  No wonder you bought a vacation home there.

Hi Elizabeth- I'm glad I came back! I'm not much into coconut water either. We had them here years ago and I can remember the guys drilling a hole in them, pouring out the liquid and using the coconut to house a pina colada or something. Oh yes, I do use coconut water in my protein shake!  Are you curious if anyone came back for the purse?

Chris Ann Cleland It is like living in a foreign country, and it makes you want to learn Hawaiian history, adopt customs, even though, no matter what you ever do or how long you live in Hawaii, you will never be a Hawaiian. I bought a bunch of books about how to identify floral and fauna, and another for learning Hawaiian words.

Kathy Streib Yes, I do wonder if anybody came back for the purse and, if so, did they think enough to walk inside the restaurant to inquire. But then I figured if nobody claimed it, someone at the restauant would look through the contents to try to identify the owner.
