I was eating dinner at a local restaurant the other day and I noticed a woman sitting at a table across the room. The reason I noticed her was because she was wearing a great smile. She wasn't particularly beautiful or well-dressed but she was attractive because of her smile.
I remember thinking to myself that she must be happy, and in a way, it made me happy. You see smiling is what's known as an affect display. It communicates emotions such as happiness, pride, and love.
Sometimes as adults we get so involved with our work, or with the responsibilities we have undertaken, that we forget to find the joy in the things that we do every day.
As singer Dean Martin sang, "Powder your face with sunshine, put on a great big smile...folks will be laughing with you in a little while".
I decided right then and there to smile more often. Smiling can be contagious. We may even spread a little bliss to others.
How does this apply to real estate? Well, just like any business my job is to help spread joy to the people I meet. If I can help bring just a little pleasure to a client or co-worker, I have done my job.
