Some of you here on Activerain have wondered "where has Hella gone" the last couple of months because I haven't been blogging very much. Don't worry, I have been "time managing" a whole lot of different marketing strategies and trying to get comfortable with it. Although Activerain is dear to my heart with all the friends and contacts I've made over the years, I did have to rethink how much time I can spend here.
Real estate agents know that they have to keep adding new clients to their pipeline even though they are already busy finding homes for buyers or working with sellers to market their properties. And this is an even more challenging time because inventory of "affordable" houses is low, those who appeal to first time home buyers. Add the fact that they hear interest rates will be going up, so this is an especially frantic time trying to find something. Then you have the high end market which here in the Carmel area means spending $2 million and up and has its own challenges, and the life of a real estate agent can get pretty busy.
Plus, after a health scare earlier this year when I was hit really hard with that flu/cold that was going around, I joined the Carmel Valley Athletic Club and now religiously go for a swim almost every morning first thing and play tennis twice a week. That and walking two to three miles a day showing homes or just tramping around Carmel-by-the-Sea, has given me a mental and physical lift that I can't even explain. My energy level is certainly way up!
Rather than just relying on the Internet for new clients, a big part of my new marketing strategy is also joining associations such as the Carmel Chamber of Commerce and the Carmel Woman's Club, to reach out to the business and residential community on a regular basis. And then there was the annual May Carmel Art Festival weekend which brings in hundreds of art buyers from all over the country, filling local inns and restaurants and generally a big boost to the local economy. I am proud to be the official organizer of it which, especially this year, brought me in contacts with literally hundreds of wonderful people. In the long run, all these activities should help considerably with keeping that pipeline flowing.
So now that I'm settled in with my new schedule, I promise to post more here once again.
