Marketing for new clients while servicing the current ones.

Some of you here on Activerain have wondered "where has Hella gone" the last couple of months because I haven't been blogging very much. Don't worry, I have been "time managing" a whole lot of different marketing strategies and trying to get comfortable with it. Although Activerain is dear to my heart with all the friends and contacts I've made over the years, I did have to rethink how much time I can spend here.

Real estate agents know that they have to keep adding new clients to their pipeline even though they are already busy finding homes for buyers or working with sellers to market their properties. And this is an even more challenging time because inventory of "affordable" houses is low, those who appeal to first time home buyers. Add the fact that they hear interest rates will be going up, so this is an especially frantic time trying to find something. Then you have the high end market which here in the Carmel area means spending $2 million and up and has its own challenges, and the life of a real estate agent can get pretty busy.

Plus, after a health scare earlier this year when I was hit really hard with that flu/cold that was going around, I joined the Carmel Valley Athletic Club and now religiously go for a swim almost every morning first thing and play tennis twice a week. That and walking two to three miles a day showing homes or just tramping around Carmel-by-the-Sea, has given me a mental and physical lift that I can't even explain. My energy level is certainly way up!

Rather than just relying on the Internet for new clients, a big part of my new marketing strategy is also joining associations such as the Carmel Chamber of Commerce and the Carmel Woman's Club, to reach out to the business and residential community on a regular basis. And then there was the annual May Carmel Art Festival weekend which brings in hundreds of art buyers from all over the country, filling local inns and restaurants and generally a big boost to the local economy.  I am proud to be the official organizer of it which, especially this year, brought me in contacts with literally hundreds of wonderful people. In the long run, all these activities should help considerably with keeping that pipeline flowing.

So now that I'm settled in with my new schedule, I promise to post more here once again.

Hi Hella- it sounds like you've been putting your time away to very good use. It's hard to spend time away from ActiveRain but we have to and we have to prioritize our time. Getting out and meeting others is a tremendous way to add to your pipeline and not rely on the Internet to keep it filled.

Kathy Streib - I am really taking it up a notch this year with marketing. Just doing the same thing over and over is fine, but it doesn't get you to another level you might be striving for.

Hella, AR is great for relationship building and capturing the Internet Clients, but there is nothing better than face to face, great idea to serve two masters, your own health and generating business as you take care of your health...love it I might have to join a swimming club too...I am a mediocre swimmer but I hear that fat floats to the top so I will be safe:))Endre

Endre Barath, Jr. - I dropped weight so fast during that cold, I was afraid, partially, that it would come back in the wrong places. Now I have some say over it! Swimming is terrific non impact exercise, and tennis is my "strength" training, and it's fun.  Right now I'm mostly on the ball machine to get that strength and timing back. Oh, and I can do both on my schedule. Classes are not for me.

You have been one busy woman!  And all of the activities will definitely pay off. Of everything, though, the emphasis on health probably the most important and will pay valuable benefits for years

Susan Haughton - I am definitely putting big emphasis on my health. I already feel so much better, energized.

Put 40 years of experience to work for you

So sorry to hear you were under the weather, Hella. I wondered where you had gone. I myself don't post nearly as much on Active Rain as I would like. I somehow manage to post a blog a day but I always feel like I am falling behind in my reciprocal obligations to visit other blogs.

I suppose I could gain a lot from joining a gym, but I know that's gonna happen when hell freezes over. I do need to focus more on core exercises and strength building. It's amazing how much strength you can lose along the path to aging well.

Elizabeth Weintraub Sacramento Real Estate Agent, Top 1% of Lyon Agents - That health scare was right after I came back from Hawaii in January, but it made me aware that I needed to work on my fitness more. I love to write here on AR, but it does take time to come up with meaningful information and I still need to find the perfect part of the day to slot it into my schedule.

Hella, I'm happy to hear you are thriving. And, your health regime sounds so wonderful. Good for you. I also think getting out in the community is a very smart way to nurture your business. We'll look forward to your posts when we see them. D

Hi Hella

Nice to see you again, and to hear about what you've been up to (but not the health scare stuff!). Sounds like you have a lot personally and business-wise to balance!!
