Some quick tips on monetizing an Amazon post

Many of you know that I've been learning how to earn more passive income via Amazon Associates.  It is part of my passive income strategy.  Currently, I've been earning around $1,800-$1,900/month just from Amazon.  (It is just part of my affiliate marketing).

What is affiliate marketing.  In a nutshell, you recommend products/services to others (products that you use/recommend...not just any product).  And, then if someone buys it using your link (within a specified period of time), you earn a commission on it.  Importantly, the person using your link does NOT pay more for the product vs if they bought on their own.  (there are some instances where it may also save the person a bit of money).

The way that I do this is to write blog posts for my audience (usually about flooring) and recommend products to solve a problem.  For example, I may be writing a blog post about tips for cleaning and maintaining hardwood floors.  And, in that article, I would recommend and link to the best hardwood cleaning product.  Or I may link to felt pads as these help prevent scratches.

And, voila, I provided tips to my readers, solved their problem and told them where they can buy the product (and where to find it for the best price).  So, that's what I do.  And, it is a bit of numbers game.  When more people see your post, follow your link and buy, the more money you make

So, I wanted to show you an example of a super helpful article that one of my friends wrote and what makes it convert well.  Check out this article about Items you actually need in your hospital bag when you go into Labor.

Obviously, this article is targeted towards women who are about to be first time moms.  While you may not be the target, if you read the article, you can tell that this is a no nonsense passionate and honest post.  It's based on the author's own personal experience.  She tells you what you need...and what you don't...and what the hospital will provide...and it is completely honest...and you can tell it is.

You connect with the author because she writes this post as if she's writing to a friend...and as if she is talking directly to you.  You can almost hear her voice.

The article provides lots of helpful info (e.g. links to other article they may be helpful if you're about to give birth) and she links to the products.  There's no hard selling to anything.

Now, there is more to this than just the content of the article.  You need to have an awesome article, but you also need to do more....you need to have people find the article!

The 2 main ways that Carly (the author) has done this is via Pinterest and Organic SEO traffic.  On Pinterest, Carly created some amazing pins and she has mastered Pinterest.  If you think I'm doing well, that's nothing compared to Carly.  She often ranges from around 200,000-500,000 pageviews/month from Pinterest.  Amazing.

The other thing that Carly has been learning and implementing is how to do better on SEO (Search Engine Optimization).  And, Carly has been optimizing lots of articles - doing both on page and off page optimization.  I'm helping her a bit, and I'm so glad to see her enthusiasm on this.  She is already making major progress and seeing the results in her traffic.

I'm hoping this article (as well as many others) will continue to rise in Google.  It's an awesome article and deserves the attention that google can give it.

Hopefully, Carly will continue to keep me updated on her progress.
