Not Every Homeowner Is Tech Savvy | Print Is Needed To Target Everyone

It’s evident that I’m an advocate of “old school” print marketing. The visibility is there for those who do not go online.  There are many people who do not do anything other than email online. They own homes. They too are “old school” and read the newspaper. Every page of the newspaper.

In my town, most of these residents are living in older homes and have owned them for 50 or 60 years. I know many of you will be thinking that these are not people who will be selling and then buying. You’re wrong.

This is the sector of the community that are in their late 70’s to late 80’s. People are healthier and living longer, and I’m not about to eliminate any of that market.

Those are the buyers who are truly interested in one level living. They want the first-floor master suite and they pay cash. We’ve listed many of those older homes and sold new and resale condos in Active Adult Communities to those homeowners.

We list Franklin properties, and I want every homeowner to know this. Every homeowner will not if we eliminate their source of receiving information.  They do not Google!!

This is the main reason we provide a full-page newspaper ad in our local newspaper. This newspaper, Local Town Pages, is monthly and is mailed to every residence and business in the town of Franklin. Everyone loves Free and this newspaper is Free.

I’ve attached the Fourth of July Free Market Analysis Postcard that I managed to create today, also. Did I mention that I’m semi-retired??  Did I also mention that I’m enrolling in my Personal Trainer Program on Friday?? That’s one of my next blog posts.

Barbara Todaro you are so right!! There's nothing like holding printed information in your hand and being able to go back to it to review time and time again!  My target market is the baby boomers and 55+ buyers and sellers, who still love to read the newspaper and see information in printed form.

True enough Barbara Todaro ..you are fortunate to have viable local print in your market...not the case here or a lot of other places.

Sally K. & David L. Hanson (sally)....yes, we're very fortunate....we actually have two local newspapers....one is monthly....the other is weekly....the weekly is in a plastic bag and thrown in the driveway.... that goes in my trash not my house.... I like the one that's mailed and placed in the mailbox with the mail....

BarbaraT- you have to know your target audience. Many people I know (Young and Old) prefer to read a real book that you hold. So, I think it's smart not to dismiss  using print media.

I tend to agree with your "Old School Marketing" habits, Barbara.  I have found the most reliable marketing strategies I've experienced come from good ole face-to-face contact, staying in touch with past clients, and print materials.

Hello Barbara --- anecdotelly I have read(maybe in a local newspaper)  that circulation has fallen among larger newspapers local numbers are up and the readership tends to be more affluent.  Each market has the optimal way of attracting the demographic that "works"...you understand your market and that's an important lesson for each of us.

It's all about snagging someone at the right time. It seems easier and cheaper to do it online, but thats not always when someone turns "ready".
