This is another reminder for you to not push your AC systems to their limits.  A common problem an AC condenser can have is when it is asked to work overtime is that it can freeze up and stop working.  There are easy ways to do thousand the most common one is to set the temperature too low.  The thermostat should rely never get below 65 degrees inside.  The bigger the house the harder the system must work to achieve that number.  One of the most common Ac problems we encounter in Aurora property management is an AC system freezing up.  This happens less when a tenant is in the house, because the temperature is micromanaged better.  This most commonly happens in vacant homes, because a vendor will leave the AC on too low and leave.  Then the thermostat is not looked at until the next vendor comes in to see the unit.  By that point ice has formed on the condenser unit and the whole unit will need to thaw out before it can push out cold air again.  We are careful to always leave the thermostats to 70 degrees to avoid this issue.  It is when you have an unscrupulous or unprofessional vendor who puts the AC down when they don’t need to, and when they fail to return the thermostat to a normal temperature.  Just be sure you never run your system too hard and too long and you will never encounter the problem of the AC freezing.
