Poinciana Is Growing In Power...

By

The once booming community of Poinciana is not immune to the attack of foreclosure, short-sales, etc.  However, despite these negative marks within the community, Poinciana recently added to major power station within the commuity.  What does that mean?  Poinciana is still a community that is growing in leaps and bounds.  There is major commercial construction underway.  These includes vendors like - Sallys, Avon, Bravo, McDonald, Walgreen, Lowes, Publix, MetroPC, Rego Tile, etc.

Many of us who live here is Poinciana welcome these businesses to the community.  Now with the high gas prices, there is no reason for many of us to venture out too far to do our shopping and dining.

THATS GREAT THAT WE DON'T HAVE TO DRIVE FAR TO GO SHOPPING, BUT THERE'S NO JOBS IN POINCIANA. WE STILL HAVE TO DRIVE 30 MINUTES OR MORE TO GET TO WORK.

I live in Village 7 neighborhood 3 there is nothing out that way for people to run to in an emergency, like a corner store or a c-store. There are homes being built on Poinciana Pkwy, but no business to rely on. How are people supposed to buy the homes when there are no jobs to help them, I work in Lake Wales, I drive 25 minutes everyday, If there were jobs here I would love to work closer. How about it!!! We need businesses and Jobs

I am somewhat tired of waiting for new roads, jobs, restaurants, and a theater. People can only wait so long before they get fed up. Politics and leadership in the area have failed terribly. I have even heard about deals that were made with businesses that prevented other businesses from coming to the area (which would create jobs). Also, what about Chili's and Wendy's? If places like this were in the area the money in the community would stay there as well, but instead we end up having to take our money to Orlando, Hayne City, etc. In other parts of Florida construction and new business seems to happen overnight, we on the other hand get "teasers" about coming businesses that take forever to show up. When in the world is NY Pizza coming, and what about Taco Maker? It also would not hurt to if the Poinciana Blvd widening would speed up (its Amazing the side they chose to begin on); I guess not enough people have died on that road yet!  And ditto for the stop lights! Can the leadership answer some of this?

I bought a house in Poinciana near to Deerwood Elementay in 1985 and still havent moved into it yet because of the lousy transportation. I dont want to drive all the way to the center for basic things. I still cant understand why small mom and pop shops are prevented or discouraged from starting small places nearby. In addition ,why isnt the school used for commnity lectures and educational services at nights? Anyone knows the answer?

I'm new to the community. Poinciana is definitely in need of commercial development. Restaurants , stores , etc...
