Relationships are built, one day at a time, one occasion at a time, and one comment at a time. It’s how we get to know the other person.
Relationships, regardless of the kind they are-business or personal-require a
fair amount of give and take.
It is not necessarily tit for tat all of the time. However, if one person in the relationship is consistently the taker and the other is the giver, that relationship may ultimately fail.
The giver may wonder what the heck kind of relationship they’re in, if one could call it that.
Often the giver eventually throws in the towel and says enough!
It very much like that here at ActiveRain. If you’re new to the community and wondering why people aren’t reading your posts one reason could be that we have no idea who you are.
That’s not to say that we’re some kind of high school clique.
Often I see new bloggers who write really good and informative posts. They may write a few posts and even get featured but eventually, they observe that not many people are commenting on their posts.
For some, it doesn’t matter because they are using the ActiveRain platform solely for their posts. And there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that.
But IF you want to establish any kind of relationship here...for referrals or just because...then it’s important to treat your time here just like any other relationship.
Respond to comments that are made on your post. If your time is limited, then at least go to the blogger’s post and read and comment on their post.
THIS is how we get to know you exist and who you are.
One more thing...there’s no requirement here to comment on anyone’s post or to respond to comments made on your post.
There’s also no requirement here that you must interact with other members here.
It’s just a lot nicer and a lot more fun.
