Sandi Reed Introduces You To the Parks of Lee’s Summit, Missouri

By
Real Estate Agent with Chartwell Realty, LLC Missouri & Kansas

I have lived in Lee’s Summit, Missouri, since 1992.  Over the years I have seen this city grow, from a small suburb to one of the most popular places to call home in the Kansas City metro.  One thing that has impressed me is the City of Lee’s Summit’s progressive response to keeping Lee’s Summit a family-friendly community known for its lakes and recreation. They continue to add new park and update the amenities of existing parks to meet the every-changing demands of the city.

Did you know there are 29 public parks in Lee’s Summit? That does not include any of Jackson County, Missouri, public parks and amenities, or any of the playground incorporated into many subdivisions.  In addition, the City of Lee’s Summit has three community centers and continues to create more inclusive programs and facilities for everyone to enjoy.

As a Realtor in Lee’s Summit and the face of the Sandi Reed Real Estate Group, it is my job to be able to tell you ALL about our community. So, I have decided to write a series – THE PARKS OF LEE’S SUMMIT- which will introduce you to each park. Some are big and have lots of amenities. And some are not much more than a playground with a bench to sit and relax.

I hope you enjoy the series and learn about some of the fun places Lee’s Summit, Missouri has to offer.

WOODS PLAYGROUND aka LITTLE PARK

I thought it only deserving that I start with a park that, until recently, I did not even know existed.  While not named for its size, but rather the fact that it is located at 615 NW Little Ave, Lee’s Summit, MO, 64063, this IS a little park. This .25-acre site was donated in 1976 by Randy and Mary Beth Woods to provide a community playground in an area just west of historic downtown. It really is quite hidden on a dead-end street making it the ideal place for the local children to play.

There is a water fountain and bench in addition to the playground equipment. Woods Playground is open 5 a.m. to 11 p.m.
