What attitude characterizes high-performance real estate agents?

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner

Do you think that attitude is an important factor in achieving good performance? If you do not think so, consider the fact that most contracts that are not closed are because of the seller's attitude rather than lack of skills.

Recall what Zig Ziglar once said: "Your attitude determines your altitude", however, people do not usually pay attention to how their attitude affects their performance (yes, your attitude affects your performance) and in fact affects everything we do .

So now that you know this strong link between attitude and performance, it will be convenient to define the meaning of "attitude": An attitude is a thought pattern and this pattern affects the way we approach everything we do.

If you change your thoughts, your attitude will change, which will lead to a change in the results you get. However, making changes of this kind is not as easy as turning on a switch. While it is true that you can change your point of view, your thoughts and your attitude, you must know that to achieve this you will need a real commitment, discipline and a firm desire to change your old habits. Would you be willing to do that?

Let's analyze our premises a little more: the way we think impacts our habits and behavior, which, in turn, has an effect on the results we obtain.

For all this, if you are looking for different and lasting results in your life, it is not enough to try to change only your behavior, but rather it is a deep process that must begin with the change of our attitudes, which will be the trigger for a domino effect that will positively and automatically affect our behavior and our results. In summary: first concentrate on your attitudes.

It is true that we have all achieved attitudes based on our past experiences, but unfortunately, we tend to base ourselves on negative experiences. For example, it is possible that it has been a while since it began to work or that it has happened in the field of sales and that it has happened previously, that it has been rejected by the sale process. But why focus only on what is not? Did it work instead of focusing on the possible rewards of success?

Now, do you agree that you need passion to achieve success? Okay, so what is your passion? What drives you?

If you have a job in the sales area and your heart is not there, you should consider stopping for a moment and look for that which really fills your passion. On the contrary, if you really love, say, real estate sales, then you should stay focused on the rewards that this business can offer you, because it is true that you have obstacles, but do not fear, you can plan and anticipate them.

Change your thinking patterns and your perspective to lead to a change in your attitude, as well as we recommend you take the first step and focus on reward rather than rejection. After ensuring that your new behavior is consistent with your new attitude and stay focused on what you want and what you can do well. The choice is yours.

I love this post Gustavo--It has the ingredients that I needed most to read right now! I have been noticing that people seem to be angry around me--well, I do not like angry people so, I have to look at myself to see if perchance it is my attitude which has engendered anger from others! I'll be darned! Sure enough! I have been very angry with a couple of agents who have been (what I see as) disrespectful to me. They are new in the business and they treat me as if I do not matter---I, meanwhile, have been in the business for over 20 years, so I can't understand how these kids can be so dismissive. My plan: Now thta I have read this post, I plan on connecting with these two. I have a lot to offer and maybe, just maybe my change in behavior will change some attitudes too! Thank you for a well written post, Gustavo--and helpful too!
