When we agents sell our homes we get a first-hand dose of the medicine we are so quick to dish out.

Listing and buying a home for ourselves can complicate our lives for sure!    Trying to get our own stuff done and keeping our business thriving can be a challenge.

I think the best lesson I have learned, is what we put our clients through each time we list a home.    From telling them all their STUFF has to be put away, making daily duties difficult.   Where did we put that????  That is a common question.   I know my jewelry is in the car, and every time I get dressed I have to remember to go to the car!

My master bedroom is a dark dungeon, which I have to have to sleep every time, (and still don't....), but now need to remember to open every single blind in the home.    There are usually things I leave out, but now need to put away each and every day ..... just in case there is a showing.   I have always had my coffee pot in the hall bathroom, which is behind my loft (office) so I don't drip coffee up the stairs.   Back to dripping......coffee pot back in the kitchen.    I prefer now to eat out, so my kitchen stays clean!

The other day I got a text at 7 pm for a showing .....  at 7 pm!   REALLY....  It is an occupied property, can you do a little planning?    It was a preview, so called the agent.  She lives in the neighborhood and wanted to see the home.   OH, BTW, hasn't sold a home in a year...oh brother!   I had just made dinner (don't do that much) and had 3 pans and lots of dishes in the kitchen, needed to push back the preview 30 minutes.  She canceled.

I have not moved for 17+ years, and sure forget all this from years ago.    I will definitely know what stress I put on my Sellers each and every time I list a home from now on.  Guess I forgot!!!!   I think we should all move every so many years, so we remember what our clients go through!

Good morning Debbie. I felt Joan's pain when I moved after 17 years. The next move a year later was much easier. Enjoyyour day!

This was a great selection for a reblog, Debbie. I read it on Joan's blog yesterday. I see so many agents complain about their sellers, who have not themselves ever moved or recently moved and have no clue what their clients are going through.

Great re-blog choice, so true, we should pretend move every few years and do what we tell our clients to do. Walk in your client's shoes as they say.

I must have missed this on Joan's blog and now have to run over there to read it. Yes, it is funny when the shoe is on the other foot. I know when I bought my house in Hawaii, I wondered if I should offer less (and there was another offer, for crying out loud).

Debbie, when I read Joan's post this morning it made me think of selling last year. One really does gain a new level of empathy for our clients when going through it too.
