I know. There are so many new programs/interfaces/networks popping up everyday and it's a daunting task to sort through them all. One of those new applications is Twitter. With Twitter, you can post what you are doing at any time throughout the day. My first thought was, "why would anyone care what I'm doing?" After giving it some thought I figured it could be a great way for me to subtly remind agents about what I could be doing for them as their VA. I am planning on posting the projects I am working on (without the customer's name of course). That way, an agent may think of hiring me for the same type of project or it may give them an idea. My second question was, "how could real estate agents use this app?" I can't think of any. Can you?

P.S. I've also added my Twitter to my website and blog.

I was like you at first, I didn't like twitter at all and now I am slowly enjoying twitter more and more.  It helps when you can text in what your doing rather than being at the computer.  Also Brightkite seems to work hand in hand with twitter a lot better too.  Heres to your sucess in getting more exposure out there.

I have looked at twitter but have not joined yet.  I can see this being a useful tool for me to keep tabs on my girls.

I work on a team of real estate brokers, it would be a good way for us to do a quick update of offers in, offers out, showings and feedback.  I am sure it would be helpful if our office administrator twittered us about availability calls as well.

Twitter can be a wonderful way to keep in touch with people you are trying to build relationships with and it can become a remendous waste of time.

You need to be sure you use it enough but not too much.

Sounds like agents are not using it much, I will take a look at it to see what it offers, thank-you!

After Twittering for about a week now, I am addicted. I also think it could have some great benefits for agents who are looking to sest themselves apart from the other agents in their area. You can have your twitter update list on your website of your personal blog. Then when prospective clients visit, they can learn a little about who you are, not what your designations are. They can develop a personal connection with you and THAT could be the thing that seals the deal.

I use twitter, but I have only used it for personal use. I don't think there is any point to it really.

Firstly, I have to preface this with the fact that I set up a Twitter account weeks ago and never used it. Good - got that off my chest!

Twitter is supposedely good for SEO....I am sure someone on the SEO board would be better equipt to explain why. I assume it has alot to do with the fact that not only is is a haven for backlinks, but it also provides lots of juicy tidbits for those internet spiders. All this means you get indexed faster.......apparently.......so they say........

Renee - As a VA, I love your idea of using Twitter to let my clients know what else I can do for them.  That being said, I haven't signed up yet but I'm really thinking about it.

One client had me set up a Twitter account, even after I explained the time commitment involved.  Unfortunately that client doesn't seem to have the time to either update it or send me any updates.  It clearly wasn't a good fit in that case.

Renee, this is a great topic!  I have been using Twitter for a couple of weeks now and actually got a great opportunity because of it.  I think a great way for agents and / or their VAs to use twitter is to tweet links to their new listings (make sure you include city / state info in the tweet, to post things like a new development has just opened their model homes for sale, to post about open houses, to ask technology questions...for the most part it's area specific for agents, but there are some things like technology and marketing questions and tips that they could tweet that are nationwide and sometimes even global.  Follow me at:  http://twitter.com/ChristineWade

Can I asj how often is everyone "Twittering"? Are you supposed to do it multiple times a day?

6:58pm • #14

Christine - great idea about twittering to link to new homes on the market!

As far as why someone would Twitter, let me just say this - I've pulled away from Twitter because I didn't feel a sense of community but was quickly sucked right back in. Since this initial post, I've made several new friends who are friends in the real world and not just online. I've had some great professional connections and contacts. I am much more connected to the real world and to VAs. It's been great. Now, I use it to Twitter my everyday stuff - maybe 10 times a day. I use it as a social networking tool that you can have fun using. Let people get to know the real you. You can make friends with people in your area and who knows, maybe you will be the only real estate agent they 'know' and will contact you first. It's all  about people.
