Thinking of selling but where are you going to move?

Baltimore does NOT

have a large selection of condos, accessible homes or 55 + housing.

When it is time to sell..

there is a great deal of pressure on a seller who has lived in the same home

for 15, 20 or even 50 years.

It feels like a catch 22.

Here is the dilemma.

If we find a place we like, we can't buy until our house is sold.

We need the proceeds to move forward.

If we put our house on the market and it sells right away, we don't have a suitable place to move.

Help!

Be careful about being 'talked into' a real estate situation.

List right away...it is the best time!

Put an offer on this condo you love.

You have a really good house and it will sell right away.

Doing the above may lead to a meltdown.

Let's try to alleviate this stress by making a few decisions.

Start looking for that next home now.

If you are considering a condo, go visit as many as possible.

Sit in the lobby. Talk to the staff. Ask questions of people living at these condominiums.

How do you feel in the building?

Is is warm and inviting? Are the people friendly? Do you like the amenities?

Do you want/need/require full service building, an elevator, a doorman, a receptionist, underground or assigned parking?

What are the condo fees?

What other expenses will I need to know about?

Visiting different properties..you wil find if the building's personality is a fit for you.

You will feel the chemistry when you are in the right place.

This gives you choices for your next move.

Margaret it is particularily stressful for our seniors - we call them, active adults in my area. We have a LOT of options for them so that takes some of the stress away but it's still a HUGE deal. I feel that it's my job to explain, educate and keep them calm and let them know I'm always a phone call away helps a lot. Working on one right now that we just put under contract. They lived in their beloved home for 30 years. They're doing great now and are actually having fun with the whole idea. The most delightful folks!!
