Long Island Home Buyers Are Looking For Open Floor Plans

By
Real Estate Agent with The Top Team @ Charles Rutenberg Realty 255 Executive Dr, Plainview NY 11803

As Premier Long Island Realtors®, we are noticing that more and more home buyers are out and about looking for homes with open spaces, and builders are creating these spaces in their new construction homes.

Walls are coming down, and we see new construction homes with Open Floor Plans.

What used to be 4 walls around kitchens, living rooms and family rooms, we are now seeing these rooms all surrounded by one large open area. The spacious open kitchen islands give Long Island homeowners the space to hang out, work, and eat in one central space.

When you open the front doors to these homes, you are now looking from the front to back as one large open area. The kitchens have large center islands, that flow directly into the eating area, and into the family room. Gone are formal dining rooms.

This new trending design has more efficient use of space. Long Island buyers seem to like the high ceilings which makes the rooms appear larger, light and open. They like the kitchens and living rooms opened as one large space.

When you are ready to buy your Long Island North Shore home, call Realtors® Lawrence & Sheila Agranoff.

Good morning Larry and Sheila.  I showed a home last week to buyers looking for an open floor plan.  They didn't like it because they thought it was "too open".

Hi Sheila and Larry... of course, in my area it's been open floorplans for 25 years and more. But then again, our housing stock is newer so it was built that way from scratch. I'm one of those people who still likes a separate kitchen... I've learned to live with the open plan, but would go back to a closed kitchen in a heartbeat!

Excellent points, Sheila! We have a wonderfully open plan now and coming from our last home, which was more of a 'choppy' design, I can say that I now enjoy cooking FAR more than I did in the old floorplan.

I'm sure Long Island home buyers are looking for open floor plans - I will forever be a believer in open floor plans too!

Happy Friday!
