I'm 55 years old and I have never received a single phone call from anyone doing a consumer confidence survey. It has to be because I'm an optimist.
That's a rule;
Those conducting the Consumer Confidence Survey are not allowed to call anyone recognized as an Optimist.
How could they know you may ask.
It's easy.
First they do a separate poll of households asking questions to determine if you are optimistic or pessimistic.. If it turns out that your optimistic, then you are deleted from the households which will be contacted in regards to the "confidence survey." Also when they want truly crappy results they survey households in areas like downtown Detroit.
Ya, that ought to bring the numbers down!
I recently posted a blog about the market improvements in the Cape Coral area, "Cape Coral's Sizzling!" If TBS, which conducts the survey for the Conference Board, finds out, then I'll never be on the survey list. That particular blog should get me banned for life.
You think that they might have at least called me by accident. I mean they could always hang up when I started sounding optimistic.
Okay, what brought this on?
CNNMoney reported that the index was at its lowest level in 16 years based on a survey of 5,000 US households.
If they called me I could give them some numbers of people to call, that would bring the index up.
BUT,
They're never going to call ME!
Aside from getting out of surveys, being an optimist is a great thing. Now, I have yet another reason to be one. :-)
