Can You Make the Time to Do It?
Someone I know is always telling us that they didn’t have the time to do what it is they said they would do. It was a simple thing. In fact, it didn’t require much in the way of time and effort.
We all have people that we meet in our lives...business and personal...who are forever telling you that they didn’t have the time to do something.
In the past, I thought OK, they didn’t have the time. And sometimes that’s true.
However, there are some people who grab for this excuse constantly.
Heck, most of us use it. (Seriously, who are you kidding, you know you have!!!)
But what that says is that whatever it is you didn’t have the time to do, you really didn’t want to make the time to do it. In your hierarchy of things on your TO DO list, that particular thing was not in the top 5. And, there’s nothing wrong with that.
What matters to you most may not to someone else.
When you recognize this, it might help you say “no” to the things that you really don’t want to do, or at least set a more realistic timeframe in getting them done.
We also learn to make time for what matters most to us, whether it’s our family, work, our hobbies, making money. We’re more likely to get those things done when they’re important to us.
What about the things that need to get done but aren’t in your hierarchy? Well, that’s up to you!
You are the one who decides what matters most to you and are willing to handle the consequences of not doing them.
