3 Easy Ways to Make Extra Money

I wanted to write a quick post this morning about 3 easy ways that I have used to make some extra money. Working from home is a dream for some people – try these simple ways to make it a reality! You can start these ideas as side gigs and if you enjoy them progress to working on them full-time.

Become a Notary or start your own Notary business: This is a great side gig! You can become a notary by filling out the paper work required for your state and if you meet all the qualifications you will be required to pass the states exam – not all states have this requirement though. Don’t worry the Notary exam is not hard.

You can make quite a bit of money as a notary and it is very flexible. You can pick and choose what jobs you want to take. The most common job that a Notary is called upon to perform is called a Jurat. This is where the notary verifies that the person is who they say they are. This is most common when a person is signing a document and declaring that everything in it is true. Becoming a Notary if you are in the real-estate business could be a great way to supplement your income and ensure deals are signed faster.

Get paid to test websites: Companies need people to be able to find information on their websites. A website can cost many thousands of dollars to develop so it is imperative that it works as a lead magnet and helps potential customers/clients to get the information that they need. This is why you can get paid $50 - $70 per hour for checking how easy it is to navigate a website. I use a site called UserTesting to get paid for doing this! They send me emails with projects and all I do is log in and record a ten minute audio and recording of my screen as I attempt to find particular information on a companies website. Very easy work that can be done by anyone at home!

Affiliate Marketing: This is a great way to make some extra money passively. All you need is to set up a website and write about a subject that you love. You then sign up with companies that provide products or services that provide solutions to your readers problems. They usually give you an ‘affiliate link’ that you put on your website. If a reader buys something by clicking through your link, you get a commission from the company. It sounds easy but it can take a while to build up a loyal readership that trusts you and will buy things that you have tried and recommend. Once you get traction though it is a win-win for everyone – the reader gets good recommendations and you get a commission for the effort.

My favorite course on this is called Making Sense of Affiliate Marketing. It walks you through how the author was able to grow her affiliate marketing business to 6 figures a month.

Those are some great ideas. I had no idea about testing websites but it sounds interesting and I may look into just out of curiosity.

Thanks Libby - UserTesting.com is the site I use for getting some work on Testing the user interface of websites. It is a great side gig if you like to critique how easy it is to navigate a website.
