Merry Christmas on August 1st from Phoenix!

By now I shouldn't be surprised to walk into a home store  in  July or August in Phoenix and see racks and racks of Christmas Decorations.  But I always am anyway!  We went to the home store to pick up replacement cushions for our outdoor furniture last Saturday and the temperature was about 105.  Not exactly Christmas weather in Phoenix!  First I saw water fountains and patio furniture.....and then........ WOW............ racks and racks of Christmas stuff. Was I tempted to take a look?  Nope!  But I gotta tell you there were a lot of gals and guys looking and putting a lot of Christmas decorations in their carts.! I am guessing it makes them happy to get started early with the good old Christmas spirit. Which now that I think about kind works but it's still too early for this gal!

We're still in summer mode  in Phoenix and that means swimming in the pool and relaxing at night on the patio. And now with the new  chair cusions we're all set to continue on in summer mode! Christmas will have to wait until after Thanksgiving!

Merry Christmas on August 1st from Phoenix!

Hi Anna Banana Kruchten CRB, CRS 602-380-4886 -  About 3-4 years ago, I went to an At Home store down in Gilbert (I think) ? It was an anchor for a discount shopping center. It had the same thing. There were isles and isles of Xmas decorations. I was shocked!

Anna, I can not believe this, I used to get annoyed when Retail would not respect Thanksgiving by going directly to Christmas .....and that was around October..... and then they wonder why people do not support them? Sad in a way, Endre

I saw the same thing in our local Hobby Lobby. The trees were up and rows and rows of decor. I couldn't find any garden decor. Oh yes, the fall and Halloween section was packed too. Something is wrong when we rush the seasons like this.

You're right you shouldn't be suprised I guess the stuff sells cause they keep do it. People don't realize this is probably left over from last year. LOL

I wonder if they actually make more money by having this stuff out early as opposed to more seasonal items that they are displacing.

Hi Anna,
Honestly, this just makes me want to boycott the stores that put Christmas stuff out so soon.  I hate the commercialization of Christmas and this is way too early!

Anna waaaaayyyyy to early for Christmas.  Before long they will start Christmas displays as soon as they finish after Christmas sales.  I will be one continuous Christmas selling season.

Hello Anna --- Christmas in August.  The spirit of the season can and should last all year long.   Bring it on!  Just take down the holiday lights.

Like you, I LOVE Christmas - and holidays, and seasons, and decorating. But this is just stupid. Can't we please enjoy summer without the reminder of winter looming in the stores. Bah humbug!  Lol.

Anna Banana Kruchten CRB, CRS 602-380-4886 - Christmas evokes such a rush on many different levels. On one hand, to get your shopping done early is admirable; on the other hand, you bypass what's right in front of you. I guess it all boils down to happy consumers and what they decide to buy, when they choose to buy, and how much benefit it is to each individual, including store owner.

Christmas seems to find a way to creep into the commercial world earlier each year.  I don't want to see that stuff until after Halloween.  And, no, I'm not a grinch!

Oh my gosh, I haven't seen that yet here, Anna! I will say that no matter how early it is when I see the first Christmas decorations, I'm also one who will always pick out a little something that finds its way into my shopping cart!
