The Standard and Poor's Case-Shiller Survey for March 2008 showed that the Charlotte Metro Statistical Area, which represents the counties of Mecklenburg, Union, Cabarrus, Gaston, Anson, and York (SC) showed a 1-Year Increase in home prices of 0.8%.  I know you're thinking why pop the cork on the champagne for 0.8% but when you look at the other cities in the study, you'll see just how strong that 0.8% really is.

  • 1 Year Averages
  • Charlotte +0.8%
  • Atlanta -6.5%
  • Chicago -10%
  • Las Vegas -25.9%
  • Los Angeles -21.7%
  • Miami -24.6%
  • Phoenix -23%
  • Washington DC -14.7&

Here in Charlotte, the news folks will still have you thinking that we're down 14%.  On my way into the office, the area's largest talk radio station did a tease "Home Prices Fell 14% in March and now on to traffic and weather."
