AZ Mortgage Fraud - Epidemic?

I guess there are a few distinct categories that my blog posts fall into.  In no particular order, I discuss Real Estate Investing.  I discuss Chandler/East Valley/Phoenix related topics.  I also talk about various 'negative' issues in Real Estate including the caliber/qualification of Real Estate professionals and all the 'hoodwinking' that goes on with mortgage fraud.  Ahhh, mortgage fraud.  What have I blogged about before?  Some CROOKS getting busted in AZ.  An Ohio based scheme.  Cash back at closing schemes.  These activities get under my skin like nobody's business.

Well looks like the number of cases in Arizona are continuing to grow.  Check out this article from the AZ Republic.  I mean READ THIS ARTICLE.  Look at all the lawsuits.  Look at all the big names in the Real Estate industry that are named.  Big title companies.  Prominent banks as well as smaller lenders.  All sorts of schemes.  Its just RIDICULOUS.  To all professionals out there - if it smells a little funky, run the other way!  They will crack down on you.  To all consumers out there - a mortgage is serious business.  Don't 'fudge' your numbers.  Disclose everything.  And most importantly, do business with REPUTABLE folks (ie Realtors, Lenders, Title companies).

I just hope all these legal actions/proceedings work to drive out the unsavory folks in our business and that they aren't replaced by other CROOKS waiting in the wings...

Thanks for Reading :)

Kaushik, greed causes people to do stupid things, hopefully news of some of them getting caught will cause others to not travel down the same road.

George - agreed!  But i'm not convinced its all exorbitant greed.  I think some of these folks just thought that they were operating in 'gray areas' and there would be no punishment....because there was no crime!

Kaushik,

Good Post! Guess that fraud is coming to light all over the US.

Teri - As I quote in my title, potentially epidemic levels.  The article I cite in this blog post has references to some very large companies that were involved...very disturbing...

I think the article link to the AZ Republic is dead Kaushik.

Karen - Unfortunately, I think the AZ Republic articles go away after some time...
